A Victorian satinwood writing table, circa 1890, in George III style, directly after a design by Thomas Sheraton, inlaid with boxwood and ebonised lines, the shaped rectangular top with tooled green leather and stepped three-quarter gallery concealing a rising screen and two sprung stationery compartments operating with button release, above an inverted breakfront frieze drawer, on square section tapering legs, brass caps and casters, 89cm high, 91.5cm wide, 57cm deepThomas Sheraton illustrated a 1792 pattern for this 'Lady's Writing-Table', with candle-branches fitted on the top at each side, in his The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793 (part III, pl. 37). A satinwood writing-table of this pattern, fitted with branches is illustrated in P. Macquoid and R. Edwards, The Dictionary of English Furniture, London, rev.ed., 1954, p. 256, fig. 37. For a virtually identical design of writing table see, Frances Collard, Regency Furniture, Antique Collectors Club, 1985, page 63. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, there are some marks and stains including a 'ring mark' to the top of of one of the 'arms'. An assorted lot of Amethyst jewellery, consisting of 2 9ct gold rings and a pair of small 9ct gold studs. Single stone amethyst ring weighs 3.4 grams, finger size T. The three stone amethyst with small illusion set diamonds weighs 7.4 grams, finger size R. The oval shaped earrings weigh a total 0f 0.5 grams.
An early Victorian opal and diamond setting later converted to a ring, set with six oval opals in a floral design over pierced blue enamel. Ring weighs 5.6 grams, finger size J, together with a silver dress ring, set with three oval shaped opals in a claw setting. Ring weighs 4.2 grams, finger size R.
Freikorps Rossbach Medal 2nd Class, being a white enamel cross with stags heads in gilt between the arms and gothic “R” to the centre. Complete with ring loop. Maker stamping on the reverse. This auction comprises a private European collection of WW2 German militaria, mostly consisting of cloth headdress and steel helmets. This collection has been put together over a period of time from private house buys, flea markets (flohmarkt) and internet auction sites.
