A FRENCH GRAS BAYONET WITH MATCHING SCABBARD, the top of the blade has clear foundry marks and the year 1883, the cross guard and the scabbard are both numbered 5884. the front of the blade has an S in a diamond with star and R and B in circles, the handle is in good condition for its age, Customers must satisfy themselves prior to sale in regards to conditions and authenticity, viewing is advised, condition reports are available on request

Voyage en Suisse par Dikenman peintre, manuscript title within double rule border, 80 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates by Dikenman, heightened with gum arabic, lower hinge separating, later red morocco, gilt, g.e., [Bobins 1686],oblong 8vo, Zurich, [c.1830].⁂ A stunning series of Swiss views covering the lakes, mountains and major cities, presumably compiled by a tourist.
Walker (George) The Costume of Yorkshire..., first edition, titles and text in English and French, hand-coloured aquatint frontispiece and 40 plates by R. and D.Havell after George Walker, occasional spotting, plate 39 damp-stained at foot, original boards redbacked with modern morocco, spine gilt, covers spotted, some wear to extremities, [Abbey Life 432; Bobins 732; Colas 3044; Tooley 498], folio, 1814 [plates watermarked 1811 & 1813].⁂ Several of the images from this book have become icons as depictions of the working classes before the start of the industrial age, but the best known image is of the fledgling steam locomotive designed by John Blenkinsop hauling coal at the Middleton colliery. By 1815 Blenkinsop had built four engines of this type for the colliery. It was a rack engine, its drive wheel engaging a toothed rail for added traction; it could haul 90 tons of coal.

Dessinées d'après nature par Frey, Fussli, Meyer, Schmid et Weibel, Zurich, 24 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates, tissue-guards, wormhole to lower margin running throughout, some very light marginal marking but a clean set generally, light damp-staining to two text leaves at front, original blind-stamped decorative boards, neatly rebacked, retaining part of original backstrip, corners bumped, g.e., [Bobins 1694], oblong 8vo, Zurich, Keller & Füssli, [c.1825].⁂ The only edition of this fine set of views of different "Maisons de paisan" in the cantons of Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, Basel, Appenzell and others.

Jones, all plates with two soft vertical creases, slightly affecting image on plate 8, some light marginal marking or soiling, bookplate to inside front cover, original printed wrappers, covers neatly backed with a few repaired nicks and tears to extremities, light surface soiling, preserved in custom drop-backed box, [Abbey, Scenery 63; Bobins 1471], oblong folio, Brighton, C. and R. Sickelmore, [c.1824].⁂ The Joel Spitz copy of this handsome series of views, this copy a variant of the first edition, the wrapper similar to Abbey 64 but without the part number indicated.Provenance: Joel Spitz (bookplate, sold his sale, Christie's, 27th May, 2015, lot 9).

Buck after Hulley, bookplate tipped onto inside upper cover, original printed wrappers featuring title and imprint on upper cover within decorative border, preserved in custom drop-back box with ink ownership stamps inside covers, some slight fraying to joints, [Abbey, Scenery 93; Bobins 1439; Tooley 274], oblong folio, R. Ackermann, 1813.⁂ Fine uncut copy of this rare series of views showing the spa town at the height of its fashion. Provenance: Maxine and Joel Spitz (bookplate and ink stamp, sold their sale, Christie's, 27th May, 2015, lot 6).
Rowlandson (Thomas) Loyal Volunteers of London and Environs, Infantry & Cavalry, in Their Respective Uniforms, first edition, 87 hand-coloured aquatint plates, including the title, most highlighted in gold, extra-illustrated with an unsigned plate at end, later tissue guards, list of subscribers (final leaf with silked repair), bookplate, scattered spots and some marks to margins, red crushed morocco by Bayntun of Bath, ornately gilt, rebacked with original spine laid down), [Abbey, Life 379; Bobins 385; Tooley 416], 4to, R. Ackermann, [1798-99]⁂ A remarkable copy of this beautiful and historically important work, depicting the volunteer corps which came about as a response to the imminent threat of invasion by French revolutionary forces. It is described in Bobins as 'one of the most original and even romantic sets of English military plates'.

Ackermann, 1817.⁂ Four parts, all published, from an originally intended six parts. Very rare in the original parts.
Surtees (Robert Smith) The Analysis of the Hunting Field, first edition in book form, early issue, half-title, aquatint frontispiece, additional pictorial title and 5 plates by J.Harris after Henry Alken, all hand-coloured, wood-engraved illustrations, 4pp. advertisements at end, some light foxing, sporting bookplate of Van Santvoord Merle-Smith, original pictorial green cloth, gilt, g.e., a little rubbed and marked, spine faded, wear to lower joint, recased, [Bobins 1320; Tooley 470], 8vo, R. Ackermann, 1846 [but 1847].⁂ Tooley denotes the first issue as being in green cloth, with both titles, and the preface dated 1846. The preface here is dated 1847 but plates 3 & 4 are in the earliest state dated November 9th.

Ackermann, 1815.⁂ First separate issue of Uwins depictions of contemporary dress at Oxford, his designs having previously appeared as part of plates of Ackermann's great The University of Oxford (1814; Abbey Scenery 278).
