A George III oak and walnut banded longcase clock, with eight day striking movement by R. Deaves, Whitchurch, the arched brass dial with moon phase, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the long trunk door flanked by quarter column corners and raised on a conforming base. Height 207 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is generally in very good order. The hood has no issues and is of good colour. The crossbanded frieze beneath the bottom edge of the hood has minor veneer losses at the corners. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case and base are all in good condition and the bracket feet are original. The case is of good colour and requires very little work if any. The clock winds on both trains and appears to be ticking and striking however it is a little dirty. There do not appear to be any pieces missing and the moon phase mechanism is present. We do not think that the clock is a marriage as the fit around the dial is good, the seatboard original and the cheeks not built up.
