English Profilist, 1839 - Silhouette of Kate Lupton, Baroness von Schunck (1832-1913) aged 7 years, cut paper, inscribed verso Kate Lupton - aged seven years taken in 1839, 19.5 x 13cm Kate Lupton of Potternewton Hall and Gledhow, Leeds was the daughter of Darnton Lupton (1806-1873) Mayor and merchant of Leeds by his first wife Sarah Luccock (1806-1834), daughter of John Luccock and Elizabeth Darnton. Kate Lupton married in 1867 Edward, Freiherr von Schunck (1816-1889). He purchased the Gledhow Estate in 1875, thereby establishing what was to become a long fmilial connection with the Middleton family, a descendant of which is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, GCVO: a first cousin of Baroness von Schunck (nee Kate Lupton) also raised at Potternewton was Francis Lupton, who's daughter Olive married a local, Gledhow solicitor, R O Middleton, the great grandparents of the Duchess.
