At the Battle of Jutland she was the flagship of the 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron and torpedoed the German light cruiser SMS 'Frauenlob'. In his account Barton remarks '.. as soon as they saw we were flagship they let us have it, it only lasted 3 1/2 minutes, we had something about 20 killed outright and a lot mortally wounded...'
