Lot 109

1992 Renault 4L Transmission: manual Mileage: 55000Louis Renault and his brothers founded their company in 1898. They quickly made a name for themselves in motor racing, notching up a string of wins in their Voiturettes. The 4CV, which was secretly designed and developed during WW2, was produced from 1946 to 1961, and became the first French car to sell over a million units. Subsequently the company continued to grow, up until the early 1980s. The renewal of the range gathered pace with the launch of two upmarket models: the 25 and the Espace. The brand made its mark in motorsports and entered Formula 1. Today, Renault is a privately held company well known for numerous revolutionary designs, safety technologies, and motor racing. It is also Europe’s number one brand for cars and light commercial vehicles. The Renault 4, also known as the 4L or ‘Quatre L’ in France, was the first front-wheel drive family car by Renault and was in essence Renault’s response to the 1948 Citroën 2CV. Renault successfully reviewed the advantages and disadvantages of the 2CV design and came up with a superior product.Finished in red with black vinyl interior and still in left hand drive guise, this Renault 4 is one of the most delightful examples of a Renault 4 you could possibly wish to find. Both the exterior paint and the interior trim are pristine and just as lovely as the day it rolled off the production line. Under the bonnet, an ‘Assemble en Yougoslavie’, reveals that this was a former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia, built car, the last country to build Renault 4s up to 1994. Rarely are such well looked after examples of the iconic and hugely successful little Renaults offered for sale.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 116

1961 Jaguar Mk. II (2.4 Litre) Transmission: manual Mileage: 63000Synonymous with the swinging ‘60’s and the hit TV series, Inspector Morse, the Jaguar Mk. II saloon has been used as a vehicle to transport everyone from dignitaries and politicians to bank robbers and the criminal select. Desirable due to being a well-balanced saloon car with space for four adults and a good size boot, it also boasted engine options including the mighty Jaguar 3.8 litre power unit; small wonder it became popular as a getaway vehicle. When released, traditional Jaguar buyers had no need to feel alienated by the new offering from Coventry as the interior was up to their usual standards with leather and walnut being the order of the day. With 112bhp available, the 2.4 was not overly burdened with pace so, importantly, coupled to a manual gearbox with overdrive it would be the more frugal of the range but give the driver the ability to utilise the full range of the 2.4 engine.Presented in the splendid colour combination of British Racing Green over a green leather interior, this lovely Mk. II has been part of a private collection for some years. Offered in generally very good order throughout, the paintwork is bright and shows very few blemishes as does the interior, the seats show a light patina and the wood dashboard is well. The history file that accompanies the car includes numerous receipts and MoT test certificates as well as the current V5 registration document and an old style buff logbook. The vendor reports that this smartly presented example runs and drives well and we believe it is offered at a very attractive estimate indeed. Interested parties should note this vehicle is listed on HPI as a category D Insurance loss dated 29th April 2001.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 131

1950 Chrysler Newport Town & Country Transmission: manual Mileage: 54000The 1950 Chrysler Town & Country was built in limited numbers, just shy of 700 units. It was powered by a 323.5 cubic inch straight eight that cranked out 135 horsepower. Despite the low production, the Town & Country did accomplish its mission of adding a bit of glamour to a basically dull Chrysler line up. The 1950 Town & Country was base-priced at $4003, almost $900 more than a New Yorker Newport. Even the Imperial Newport, when it debuted in 1951, cost only a few dollars more. In fact, the Town & Country took the honour of being the most expensive closed car in the 1950 Detroit line up, excepting limousines and corporation sedans. It cost about $500 more than the Cadillac Coupe de Ville and over $1000 more than the four-door hardtop Kaiser Virginian. The Chrysler Newport Town & Country was only produced in limited numbers with just 698 ever made. It is believed there are only two examples in the UK and the car on offer today is one of the only black on black cars known to exist worldwide. This example has only done 54,000 miles which is thought to be correct and has been fully restored to a high standard, boasting beautiful black paint, gleaming wood grain and slick white wall tyres. The interior is in time-warp original condition having never been restored but very well preserved. The vendor states that the whole car is in genuinely outstanding condition. We believe this example was exhibited previously by a German museum for a number of years and hence we would recommend some light recommissioning before being driven in earnest. This is a lovely example that can be used loved and maybe even shown, a wonderful piece of American automotive history.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 134

1959 Austin Healey Sprite Mk. I ‘Frogeye’ Transmission: manual Mileage: 56123The Austin Healey Sprite is a small, open sports car which was announced to the press in Monte Carlo on 20th May 1958, just before the Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that 'a chap could keep in his bike shed' yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven. The Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers, BMC. It first went on sale at a price of £669, using a mildly tuned version of the Austin A-Series engine and many other components from existing cars to keep costs down. The little Sprite quickly became affectionately known as the 'Frogeye'. The 43bhp, 948cc engine was upgraded with twin 1 1/8” SU carburettors. The rear axle was both located and sprung by quarter-elliptic leaf springs, again with lever-arm shock absorbers. There were no exterior door handles; the driver and passenger were required to reach inside to open the door. There was also no boot lid and access to the spare wheel and luggage compartment was achieved by tilting the seat-backs forward and reaching under the rear deck. This superb Sprite has been extensively restored to a good standard and as such presents in fabulous condition. The light blue coachwork is unblemished as is the interior. The hood is new and the car has been very well trimmed inside. Upon turning the key the engine fires up immediately and we are advised this ‘Frogeye’ drives every bit as good as she looks. These fabulous cars are remarkably simple and can be taken care of by any reasonably competent DIY mechanic. Parts are easy to obtain as the cars are well supported by the various owner’s clubs. Always popular when they come to market, examples as good as this will always create additional interest in the auction arena. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1993 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 Transmission: manual Mileage: 87748The Lancia Delta was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1979 and is best known for its domination of the World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Constantly being developed, the first 'Evolution' cars were built at the end of 1991 and carried on through 1992; these models were the final homologation cars built for the Lancia Rally Team competing under the Martini Racing banner. In June 1993, the second 'Evolution' version of the Delta HF Integrale featured an updated version of the two litre, 16 valve turbo engine to produce more power and torque, now developing 215 PS (against 210 PS on the earlier un-catalytic version). The 1993 Integrale received a cosmetic and functional facelift that included 16 light alloy rims with 205/45 ZR 16 tyres, body colour roof moulding to underline the connection between the roof and the solar tinted windows, aluminium fuel cap and air-intake grilles on the front mudguards, red colour coded cam cover, leather-covered three-spoke Momo steering wheel and Recaro seats upholstered in tan alcantara with diagonal stitching. With these upgrades, the Evo 2 Integrale is considered by many as the most desirable version to own.We are pleased to offer this splendid 1993 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 presented in Lord Blue with contrasting tan alcantara interior. The striking coachwork is in excellent order throughout whilst on the inside, the quality continues with especially excellent factory high-back seats. The condition supports the recorded mileage as 87,748km, which equates to approximately 54,524 miles. Originally supplied to Japan, this Evo 2 comes with extensive Japanese history up until its importation into the UK in 2011. This fabulous Lancia has been well maintained which is confirmed by the excellent way this motorcar drives and presents itself. The history file is complete with the Japanese records of servicing, UK invoices, a UK V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2021. Examples such as this beautifully presented and well maintained Lancia Delta Evo 2 are hard to find and we feel that, given these factors, this Lancia is offered with a very keen estimate.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 156

1965 Sunbeam Tiger Transmission: manual Mileage: 25140Inspired by the AC Cobra that was effectively the British AC Ace sports car powered by the large American Ford 4.2 litre, V8, the Sunbeam Tiger first saw the light of day in 1964. Based upon the Rootes Group, Sunbeam Alpine, the Tiger - with the Ford power plant slotted into the engine bay, it became what is surely one of motoring's true 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. Precise handling was retained by keeping the Alpine's rack and pinion steering with stunning performance due not only to the muscle V8 but also due to the lightweight Alpine shell. This very nice example was fully restored in 1984 and is presented in red with a black interior, a new walnut dashboard and has recently had new black carpets fitted. The present owner has looked after this wonderful and powerful British classic since his acquisition in 2015, making sure the oil was changed regularly and in 2016, he renewed the master and slave cylinders as well as having new shock absorbers fitted at the same time. Its black hood is in good condition and as well as coming with a good history file, this Tiger also comes with the all important buff logbook which most say is a classic’s birth certificate! Wonderful exhaust note from its 4.2 litre V8 must surely evoke memories for some and begin a dream for others. A great British classic with grunt to match!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 160

1975 Land Rover Light Van Transmission: manual Mileage: 78867The iconic Land Rover Series I, II, and III, commonly referred to as 'Series' Land Rovers to distinguish them from later models, are off-road vehicles produced in the Midlands by the iconic and world-famous manufacturer. Land Rover claim that 70% of the vehicles ever made are still in use today - a claim first made in the 1992 brochure and repeated many times since. We are told that this rare and striking, matching numbers petrol engined Land Rover was ordered by the Swiss post office. The sides of the car still feature the original PTT logo which stands for Postal, Telegraph and Telephone. We are also informed that the unusual tailor-made roof and roof rack are original and rare. This left hand drive example of the go anywhere 4x4 was kept in storage for 14 years hence the low mileage. The DVLA record for this Land Rover shows only 1 former keeper and it is offered without reserve. This Land Rover runs but will require some recommissioning.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 176

1971 Marcos GT 3000 Transmission: manual Mileage: 34725Marcos was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin, in 1961 Costin left Marcos and Denis Adams took over as stylist working with his carpenter brother Peter. The cars were a big hit with the in crowd during the 60s and 70s with the likes of film director Sam Wanamaker, Rod Stewart and many other celebrity's enjoying ownership. The Marcos evolved from the race track and is a true drivers car. The basic design endured for more than three decades and evolved to cope with over 500bhp. The first five years saw the Marcos produced with a wooden chassis after which a more conventional tubular steel space frame was used. Wood was a much misunderstood medium, it is light, simple to repair, very strong and has an important degree of flexibility. The original 1800 and other 1960’s and 1970’s Marcos are still competitive in both FIA and HSCC (UK) historic racing series. The Marcos Cars original sales sheet confirms that chassis 3V5836 was supplied by Hexagon of Highgate, London and delivered to its first owner, Mr. Kaye of Finchley, London. Offered in its original colour combination of Tangerine with a Black Cirrus interior this Marcos is fitted with its original three Litre Volvo unit. This Marcos is presented in good order throughout after having been part of a private collection for some time. The paintwork is good but does show some minor cracking as you would expect with a fibreglass body. The interior is also presented well and the engine bay is clean. Reported to run and drive well, this Marcos comes with a comprehensive history file detailing its history. Included in the sizeable history file are various sundry bills, old MoT test certificates, the original build sheet and the V5 registration document.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 193

2009 Land Rover Defender SVX 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Transmission: manual Mileage: 24300This special edition of the iconic Land Rover Defender was introduced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this classic British 4×4 and since 1948, the original Land Rover has come a long way. The limited edition SVX shares its mechanical layout with the standard Defender, including the same, recently revised 2.4 litre, four-cylinder, turbo diesel engine. There are, however, a host of upgrades including a full, front to back, roll cage in contrasting silver to the Santorini black body colour with 60th Anniversary side-panel decals. Weather gear includes a mohair ‘bikini’ hood which goes on quickly or you can opt for the full hood enclosing the rear deck too (both supplied). Additionally, it benefits from big wheels, distinctive brightwork and a silver-coloured grille and headlamp surround with LED units to the rear. It’s also reported to be ‘flatter-riding’ than any previous Defender courtesy of some subtle, SVX-only improvements to the damping making life more comfortable. To the interior, the obvious addition is a large set of Recaro seats with firmer cushioning transforming the driving position from the usual Defender to, it is thought by the motoring press, ‘something close to ideal’. There are also a host of other small but well considered trim changes including an SVX gearstick, an SVX plaque, side steps, iPod connectivity, electric windows, satnav, and air conditioning. These cars perform brilliantly off-road thanks to excellent ground clearance and axle articulation, a locking centre differential and clever traction control. The owner spent some time looking for an SVX and back in 2019, he found one. He has used it sparingly, covering just 700 miles since purchase. During that time, he has replaced the front swivel joints with genuine parts as well as numerous other service items including intercooler hoses. The tyres are in good order and sit on genuine SVX alloys with the spare strapped down in the boot alongside two side-facing jump seats. Complete with owner’s manual and SVX -registration number, these Defenders will have a small and select following among those seeking the ultimate incarnation. All versions of the Defender hold their value well and with only 90 (of 300) SVX soft-tops and station wagons sold in the UK, rarity is assured.Interested parties should note that this vehicle was the subject of light damage early on in its life, a right hand side impact. It was deemed a category D insurance loss, i.e. damaged but repairable. Due to the rarity, it was subsequently rebuilt with no perceptible issues now visible, either internally or externally. Additionally, it has a full MoT test certificate valid until December 2021 and it is worth noting that were this a pristine (non cat-D) vehicle, it would need to be garaged and not be driven in order to maintain its value whereas this can be driven and enjoyed immediately.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 223

1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL Transmission: automatic Mileage: 96665The Mercedes-Benz SL class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. This wonderful example showing 96,665 on the odometer is presented in its original colour of Diamontblau Metallic over a contrasting beige leather interior. It has been treated to much restoration work in recent years including an extensive respray returning the car to its original colour, a full leather interior renovation using the original hide, reconditioned OEM wheels, as well as various other works. Showing very little sign of age, the paintwork, interior, and hood are all presented in excellent condition as is the engine bay which is very clean. Accompanying the 500SL is a sizeable history file detailing the restoration, many old MoT test certificates, photographic records of the restoration, many sundry invoices, and the V5C Registration document. Dry stored and exercised occasionally the vendor reports that the 500SL runs very well indeed and is a joy to drive. This is a wonderful example with an extensive history. Offered in one of the most desirable colour combinations we are sure it will be huge amounts of fun for the new owner!Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 238

1983 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Transmission: automatic Mileage: 34176The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, finally becoming the 280SL. The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance. The impressive soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. This early version of the iconic Mercedes-Benz R107 roadster was registered in 1983 and shows only 34,176 miles on the clock. The history file contains a fully documented service and maintenance record with works completed by Mercedes-Benz authorised dealers and most recently marque specialist John Haynes. Also present is an impressive MoT test history with every certificate dating back to 1988.The current MoT test certificate is valid until February 2022. This Mercedes-Benz presents well in light ivory and a classic cream check interior and is fitted with a factory hardtop, a tracking system and fire extinguisher. Offered to auction with its original manuals and handbooks and a V5C registration document this wonderful low mileage example should be considered a sound investment given the current prices and popularity of the model.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

The interior includes electrically adjusted seats sourced from an M Series BMW and air suspension. Registered as a breakdown truck, this vehicle is exempt from road tax and offers a fantastic marketing opportunity or just amazing fun. Difficult to miss and offered at a fraction of the cost to build.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Lot 249

1908 De Dion-Bouton AL2 8hp Rear Entrance Tonneau Transmission: manual Mileage: The names of De Dion and Bouton are inextricably linked with the pioneer years of the motor car, initially in company with Trépardoux in the building of light steam carriages, the first of which appeared in 1883. In the early 1890s De Dion and Bouton turned their attention to the internal combustion engine, much to the annoyance of Trépardoux who quit in 1894, leaving his erstwhile partners to develop what was, in effect, the first high-speed internal combustion engine.Engineer Bouton's power units developed significantly greater output than their contemporaries from Daimler and Benz, yet matched them for reliability. Small wonder then that De Dion Bouton engines were adopted by many other manufacturers both in Europe and the United States. Early 137cc engines ran at speeds of up to 1,500rpm, and the first internal combustion-engined tricycles were built in 1895. The 250cc engine of 1896 developed approximately 1.75hp and made the contemporary Benz engines seem positively antiquated. Early De Dions were rear engined and of the vis-à-vis type – where the passengers sat facing the driver but from 1902 onwards a more conventional layout for a motor car was adopted, one of the first of this kind being the Type O. By this time, De Dion's fast-revving, single-cylinder engines were offered in 4 1/2hp, 6hp and 8hp variants. All featured mechanical inlet and atmospheric exhaust valves, and were noted for their reliability, which is borne out by the number surviving today. The De Dion offered here although registered on the V5 as a 1906 at present is verified by the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain as a 1908 example of the 8hp with desirable rear entrance door which, when new, we believe cost £208. With right hand drive and wheel steering, it represented De Dion-Bouton's latest thinking at the time of its introduction, embodying important developments in design, construction and coachwork in advance of the firm's earlier quadricycles. Presented in green coachwork with beige trim, this example was purchased by our vendor from the ex De Dion-Bouton Club Chairman and the history file includes details of both operating instructions and the model line ups from the era and the full report from the Veteran Car Club. Offered in very good order with a recently rebuilt engine this car has also known modifications including Zenith Carburettor and electric starter. A wonderful example of an iconic turn of the century vintage motorcar with the engine to which De Dion-Bouton made an inestimable contribution to the early development of the automobile. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500SL-32 Roadster Transmission: automatic Mileage: 79490These incredibly accomplished, five litre sportscars represent a truly advanced way to travel. Stuttgart supplied these grand-tourers with high levels of comfort including a fabric convertible top as well as a colour-matched and manually detachable hardtop that could be fitted over the stored fabric convertible roof. Other advancements included an electronically controlled damping and the famous hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. Electric mirrors, seats and windows combined with acres of leather and wood make for a very satisfying place to travel in.Presented in classic burgundy with a black leather interior, unmarked split-rim alloy wheels and Falken high-performance tyres, this example has remained in the vendor’s ownership for over 17 years. The mileage is relatively low and servicing has been maintained until 2012 with the last by well-respected Mercedes-Benz specialists, SS Motors of Weybridge, Surrey. In addition, a fresh MoT test certificate and light service will accompany this lot. The three-memory seat program works well as does the air conditioning. With just two previous recorded owners, a full Mercedes-Benz book pack, original JVC stereo and CD changer and functioning factory alarm, this represents a solid, well-cared for example that ticks all boxes for the forthcoming Covid-free summer...Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Lot 257

1967 MG B Roadster Transmission: manual Mileage: 3981The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. The performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction aided by the relatively light weight of the car. This MGB is presented in gleaming white and black leather interior with white piping. The black hood and matching full tonneau cover are complemented by a stylish chrome luggage rack mounted on the boot lid. Sold by Historics to our customer in 2017 and having been enjoyed by him since this MGB is presented with an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2021. A lovely example with electric fan and braided hoses to the delightful engine bay and with its wire wheels giving it that classic British sportscar appeal, this iconic little gem will be a joy to drive and will bring a smile to anyone’s face.Guide £12,000 - £15,000 Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale.
