Sword: A Wilkinson Sword Co presentation sword in the Medieval style with down turned brass quillons. Polished steel blade 28". Made with polygon shaped plaque overhanging the crossguard for an inscription (currently blank). G.C. with light wear. Note that these swords were made without a scabbard
Silver 18 piastres of Cyprus of Victoria, 1901, engraved on a flattened obverse, outer edge Pte. J. Mc.NINCH FRANCE, centre top 19024, below 14.H.L.I. with central thistle and leaves, probably this soldier was of the 14th. Highland Light Infrantry Batt, 29024 [71st.?] interesting and needs more research, all the engraved letters are shaded, the piece is holed each side, just above centre and possibly used as an extra dog tag?
Sword: An Indian Tulwar of some age. All steel construction. Heavy curved, unfullered blade 34" single edged. Wheel pommel with long flattened langets. Rose (?) finials to crossguard. Sheet iron guard. Traditional diamond shape grip. The sword is sound and complete with light rust & pitting overall. This is a working sword of the 18th or 19th Century in original - a sleeper.
Japanese Wakisashi. Blade 20" stained with light rust. Later wood grip. In its leather covered wooden scabbard with single ASHI. Plain brass KABUTOGANE. The handle is signed "Harima Daijo, Fujiware Tadakuni". The Tadakuni part is the smiths name and the rest is an official and honorific title: Harima Daijo (assistant to the lord of Harima province) Fujiwara (one of the ancient noble families of Japan) circa 17th century. Worn overall.
