Inscribed and signed: "To Ann and Martin from Alfred Hitchcock".

Overall size approx. 300x230mm. Some light creasing, but overall an impressive collection of signed pages that could be extracted and nicely framed.

SIDMOUTH, HENRY ADDINGTON - 1ST VISCOUNTAutograph Letter Signed - (ALS)A light grey, hand-written letter, (approx 4.5x7.5 in) written and signed in black fountain pen ink by Henry Addington, the former British Prime Minister from 1801-1804, who later became Lord Sidmouth. A small extract of the piece reads `Lady Sidmouth would have great pleasure in dining with you on Thursday.` Signed at the close `Lord Sidmouth`. The piece is dated February 17th 1835.

The manuscript document is addressed to the Attorney General and requests that he prepare a `Bill for Our Royall Signature to passe Our Great Seale of England, containing our full & Gracious Pardon` for Ambrose Baynes who stood `convicted for having forged & Published a Bond or Obligation bearing date the 20th day of November 1668`. Countersigned at the foot by 1st Earl of Arlington (1618-1685, English Statesman, Secretary of State for the Southern Department 1662-74 and Postmaster General 1667-85). With blank integral leaf. Some very light overall creasing and minor age wear.
A Caughley blue and white mug or tankard. c.1780, of cylindrical form with grooved loop handle, painted in underglaze blue with the `La Peche` and `La Promenade Chinoise` pattern, the base with underglaze blue `S` mark, 5¾in. (14.5cm.) high. * The body has a distinctive green tint under strong light. ** Provenance: Included in a 1949 inventory of porcelain bequeathed to Dr. John Alistair Burkhardt by his aunt, Miss Charlotte Mary Sandford of 27, The Little Boltons, South Kensington. The inventory was prepared by White Berry & Catford, Valuers, 28 Cadogan Place, SW1 and dated 3rd March 1949. Most of the pieces on this inventory are included in our auction catalogue (lots 15 to 49). Photographs of the inventory are available via e-mail by request and a copy of the inventory will be provided to purchasers of these lots after the sale.
