After Stanley Spencer 'Girl with Dog'; 'Disciples at the Gate'; 'Me Greeting Hilda'; three offset lithographs, trial proof each plate 40 x 27cm and similar, unframed (3) These prints were probably made by Spencer's friend, the artist Henry Trivick, and are after drawings made by Spencer during the 1930s. It is a trial proof and so does not bear the Friary Studio stamp.Condition report: Each mounted, 'Disciples at the Gate' has a small brown mark lower left edge of image/margin but no other obvious condition issues. Girl with Dog has a crease (although this is not overly obvious) in a diagonal line through the lower half, it also has light rippling and handling creases but mostly to the margins, it says 'trial' in margins. Hilda is in good condition. All three are presented in clean mounts.

Commando War Stories in Pictures No 1 (D.C. Thomson 1961). Bright cover, sharp corners, tight spine, cream pages, the back cover has some light rubbing wear to the yellow colour [fn/vfn] Part of the 'Battle' Archive of Picture Library booklets, this collection of Commando was put together and continuously upgraded over a 40 year period by the editor of 'Achtung Commando'. Quite simply, it is the finest Commando collection to be offered at auction.

Magic Comic (1940-41) 25-80 (final issue). In bound volume. Propaganda war issues. E. H. Banger's Koko the Pup delivers the mail to the front line/blows up a U-Boat/teaches everyone how to wear a gas-mask. Kipper-Feet, the young walrus captures the crew of a German submarine and a Nazi pilot 'Hates ze Tickler Twins'. Also starring Peter Piper and Gulliver by Dudley Watkins, Herr Paul Pry the Nasty Spy, Sooty Snowball (by Robert McGillavray) who brings down a Luftwaffe pilot with his scrapyard magnet. Magic Comic only ran for 80 issues, being sacrificed by D.C. Thomson to keep Beano and Dandy going during the war. Bright covers, cream/light tan pages with some tears and light edge moisture stains.
