Described as written by "a Northamptonshire peasant" on the title page, Clare's poetry concerns nature and the countryside and often uses Northamptonshire dialect.

He financed the press of Giovanni Battista Pasquali, from where he issued lavishly-produced books in extremely limited editions. These included a Catalogue Librorum Rarissimorum, which was a partial catalogue of the rarities in his own library (engraved armorial bookplate to front pastedown).

With much on food & drink, agriculture, animal husbandry and veterinary matters. Gacon-Dufour (1753-1835) was a French novelist, economist, and women's rights campaigner. She lived most of her life in the countryside, where she developed a keen interest in agronomy.

An anglophile, Llanos began a career writing novels in the English style, publishing the two first mentioned here in quick succession. In 1833 the couple returned to Spain, where they remained.
