Walter Crane RWS (1845-1915)`SYRACUSE, ANAPO RIVER` Signed with monogram and dated `Jan 23 `04`, watercolour and bodycolour, on buff paper 24.5 x 33.5cm Papyrus is native to North Africa and the Anapo and Ciane rivers in Sicily are the only places in Europe where it can be found. Crane first visited Italy just after his marriage in September 1871 and stayed until May 1873. He revisited Italy in December 1881 and again in September 1882.CONDITION REPORT: Not viewed out of glazed frame. Loss of depth to blue colour. Light fading especially to river. Monogram and title quite indistinct.

Dial good with no chips or cracks. Rear of case has several small dents. Marks are slightly rubbed. Inner case is also dented and is thin (has possibly had an inscription removed). Light surface scratching overall. Watch will not wind (no resistance). Weight approximately - 92.6 grams
