Boxing interest; the Lonsdale Challenge Belt, enamel on silver plaques, Mappin & Webb, Sheffield 1974, with original ribbon The central oval plaque depicting Lord Lonsdale, together with three plaques depicting boxers in action, with original ribbon. These pieces form the Lord Lonsdale Challenge Belt awarded to the winner of the Heavyweight Championship of Great Britain since 1929. The championship was vacated in 1974 as Albert 'Rocky' Wall "retired" from the sport, which left the belt unawarded. Ltd., 18 & 20 Grafton St, Dublin (light spotting and time staining, thunderbugs beneath glass, colour good) * The Dublin and Kingstown Railway (D&KR) was the first passenger railway to open in Ireland and also claimed a series of other firsts, including the first use of a passenger tank engine, the first commuter service and the first railway to build its own locomotives. Brought into being under the 'Dublin and Kingstown Railway Act, 1831', it faced numerous obstacles and opposition during planning and construction, including the destruction by storm of an important bridge. It opened in 1834, with two engines in operation, the Vauxhall and Hibernia and the first timetabled services commenced in 1835. In 1856, the Dublin & Wicklow Railway took over operation of the trains, leasing the line from the D&KR.

King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry), attached 2nd Battalion, 2nd Queen Victoria's Own Rajput Light Infantry. Dated 20th August, 1917, but to rank from 13th July, 1916. Gazette Aug 16 1921 - Military Cross for distinguished service in the Field with the Waziristan Force, India- Capt. Geoffrey Baynton Williams, 8th Rajputs, I.A. For conspicuous gallantry during the attack on the Taziah Canal, south-west of Hillah, on the 7th October 1920. Though opposed by far superior numbers he turned the enemy's position by capturing the head of the canal. From this point he was able to enfilade the insurgents, who were holding a strong position. Throughout the operations Capt. Williams has shown himself to be a bold and skilful leader, especially on this occasion, when he was severely wounded for the third time.

A George III Silver Two-Light Candelabrum, by Luke Proctor and Co., Sheffield, Circa 1790 the part-fluted circular base with reeded rim, the baluster stem fluted, the branches reeded and terminating in fluted sockets, with detachable reeded nozzles and reeded wax-pans, with a central ball finial, engraved on the base, nozzles and finial with a crest, the base filled43.5cm high, weight of branches 25oz 2dwt, 782grFully marked on base and on detachable branches. Further part marked on each nozzle. The marks on the base worn and only just legible. The other marks generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is particularly noticeable as a softening to the engraving on the base. There are some bruising, including to the branches which are somewhat out of shape. The bases are filled/loaded. There is a repair to the lower stem, where it joins the base.

The pieces are in good condition. It fastens with a lobster claw catch. The pendant is stamped '14K' and in our opinion would test as gold, it is also stamped 'C0.75' and 'S0.26' referring to the diamond content. The chain is stamped '14KT' and '585' and in our opinion would test as gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I/J, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 2.6 grams. CR made 19.09.24.

A Pair of Victorian Silver Four-Light Candelabra, by Richard Hodd and Richard Hodd, London, 1895 each in the rococo style, on shaped circular base with spiral-fluting, stamped with foliage and rocaille, the stems baluster and similarly decorated, the detachable arms with three branches, each terminating in a baluster socket with detachable nozzle and conforming wax-pan, the bases filled33.5cm high, the branches 55oz 16dwt, 1,735gr (2)Fully marked on base, branches and each nozzle. The marks with some very minor wear. There is some overall minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some minor bruises and dings. The total gross weight, including the filling material is 3,072gr.

It is stamped '18ct' and in our opinion would test as gold. The sapphire measures 10.42mm x 10.39mm x 5.08mm = 5.00 carat approximately, displaying a purple hue in incandescent light and blue in daylight. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour H/I/J, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 4.9 grams. CR made 18th September 2024.

The top section has a fault in the polish? The desk is structurally sound. The drawers are mahogany-lined. The escutcheons are bone or ivorine. The superstructure has some movement to the right corner. The measurement between the curved section is 35cm. The total depth from the front flap to the back is 24cm.
