Manuscript Cookery Book, A late 18th Century manuscript book hand titled to cover 'Receipts in Cookery', comprising 31 pages of recipes and an alphabetical index written on 23 leaves in manuscript, with further blank leaves. With several loose leaves inserted for further recipes, some received by letter; one letter addressed to 'J Strickland, Apperley Court, Tewkesbury' with a franked Penny red stamp mark BA; 8vo (21cm x 17cm), vellum/Note: Likely by Juliana Strickland (1765-1849), daughter of Sir George Strickland Bt. of Boynton, Yorkshire. From the early 1800s she lived at Apperley Court (the home of their brother Henry Eustachius Strickland. Binding good, No excised pages visible.

Fold out frontispiece browned to top with light tears and losses. Title page partially toned and foxed and page edges worn throughout. Further moisture related browning as pictured. Back cover soiled and edgeworn and inscribed in pencil. Endpapers tanned.

Internal contents are in good condition, with few issues aside from light foxing.

Jardine (William), Memoirs of Hugh Edwin Strickland, London: John Van Voorst, 1858 together with Selection of the Scientific Writings of Hugh Edwin Strickland, 1858, 4to, bound as two volumes, quarter tan calf (2), frontispiece, both bound with note paper pages with handwritten notes on the author and pasted reviews and articles, Volume 1 inscribed as "Henry E. Strickland's Private Copy, drawings inserted copied by Miss Frances Strickland from the original sketchbook, 8 plates, 15 hand-sketched insertions, Volume 2 with frontispiece and 7 fold out maps, 5 further plates, endpapers pasted with reviews and letters CONDITION REPORT: Some clear wear to bindings of both volumes, with extensive rubbing and some bumping throughout and areas where the spine leather and bands are coming loose. Some considerable foxing around frontispiece and title page to both volumes. Grey wash and pencil insertions are in good condition, with minimal tonal loss or foxing. Aside from this, textual contents are generally bright, with some light foxing.

A collection of Japanese books, late 19th Century, profusely illustrated with Ukiyo-e hand-coloured plates. CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. Each book appears completed with no excised pages. Some light soiling to covers and light rubbing / scuffing. Light edgewear to each volume and dustmarked.Binding with ribbons possible of later date, The ribbons intact but a little frayed at the ends. Light bumping to corners of covers. Remnant of red cloth binding to spines as pictured, mostly rubbed away. Interiors generally bright and clean with minor discolouration to interior of endpapers.

A Chinese polychrome porcelain vase, 20th Century, of baluster form with an inverted rim, decorated with sections of celadon, light brown, dark brown and ivory, Tiexiuhua style two Fo dog handles and four high relief Chilongs to the shoulder, converted into a lamp on a wooden stand, the vase 34.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: A few small blemishes to glaze but overall good. Will need to be rewired. We have not examined the vase where it is concealed by the base and the brass fittings to top.

Ends good. Pile overall low but with some area of wear and lower pile as pictured. Scattered light spotting more visible to the ivory field. All over in good used condition.

Rebound. Binding solid but front and back hinges cracked. Some scattered foxing to endpapers and first few pages. All over a good set. Black Prince: minor scuffs and and corners bumped, exterior hinges worn and internal hinges cracked, slight rubbing to spine and raised bands. very light foxing to endpapers. Pendennis: cover with wear and losses and wear to leather, edgewear, scattered foxing and watermarks to some plates and endpapers, paste-downs restored, frontispieces browned to the edges.

All volumes for Folio Society in this lot also have the original cardboard box originally used for shipping and are in almost as new condition. The Jane Austen volume is unboxed but in near fine condition with only very light wear to the cover.

Box with slight wear to corners and edges of cloth binding. Silver Jubilee panorama with varnish of wood lightly worn around finial and on base. Slight soiling to paper covered case. A little wear to scroll end and tanning. Very minor spotting as pictured but generally in good and bright condition.Coronation panorama case in good condition, a little tanned at around the scroll end. Slight toning to end of scroll near wooden handle, light toning and folding where sections of scroll are joined.

Most printed pages are in good condition, with light foxing. Some futher foxing to page edges. Plates appear to be in tact, and bear varying signs of wear, with some fairly clear and others more extensively affected by foxing.

Scattered foxing throughout and light edge browning to the last pages of each volume. Index to each volume appended. Volume 4 with 2 leaves of advertisements. Volume 4 badly oil marked / stained to pages up to plate LXXXVI. Binding generally good with light scuffing to leather spines and corners with light edgewear. Slight sunning to upper front cover of marbled boards for volume 4

The electric motor works. No tears or rips to the leather. The frame has a little bit of parting from the front support to where the back angle joins. A slight notch to the wooden frame on the right hand side.

The fly trying material - there is a plastic tuppaware full of packets of lines and tying material, and then the cardboard box in the extra images is full of various feathers and fly dressing material. Some of that natural material is beginning to age and deteriorate.

Edwardian oak extending dining table, oval top with moulded edge, turned and ringed legs, two additional leaves, maximum length 220cm, width 145cm, height 69cm, together with a set of four oak high-back dining chairs; and two further dining chairs.Qty: 7Condition report:The winding mechanism doesn't seem to function. There is a light stain to one of the table ends, and the same leaf end has some indented scratch marks. Otherwise the top is pretty clean and the colour between the leaves and extra inserts is fairly even. The chairs are all solid in their frames. There are four with the carved foliate top rail with brown leather seats, and two with the barley twist supports on the backs with a redder seat. The chairs fit but it doesn't leave much room for your legs when sat at it as the rails get in the way.

Mechanism still rotates well and spool release is fine. Foot also remains in good shape.

Rotates freely.The other two reels are heavily corroded. The spool release mechanism is fused on the one with black label 'Wf7 ST', but the other the spool release does still work.
