Regarding the map, Pforzheimer notes: 'it is generally allowed that the map which belongs in that third volume, only occasionally found, was not issued with all copies.'The entire third volume is devoted to America: 'The Third and last Volume of the Voyages, Navigations, Traffiques, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and in some few places, where they have not been, of strangers, performed within and before the time of these hundred yeeres, to all parts of the Newfound world of America, or the West Indies... as namely to Engronland, Meta Incognita, Estoti land, Tierra de Labrador, Newfoundland, up the grand bay, the gulfe of S. Laurence,... to the shores and maines of Virginia and Florida, and on the west or backside of them both, to the rich and pleasant countries of Nueva Biscaya... to the bottome of the gulfe of California... Together with the two renowned and prosperous voyages of Sir Francis Drake and Mr. Thomas Candish round about the circumference of the whole earth'. According to Church, ' Hakluyt's Principall Navigations was the fruit of a life devoted to promoting the cause of English colonisation and commerce by disseminating knowledge about, and stimulating interest in, all the less known, or recently discovered parts of the world', and the supplement 'contains fourteen rare works not easily accessible in any other form, and is quite as important as either of the volumes published in [Hakluyt's] time.' A collection of Winchcombe pottery including an oval slip ware dish, 32 cm long x 28.5 cm wide x 5.5 cm high, three small rectangular dishes, 18.8 cm long x 13.4 cm wide, 14 cm x 9.3 cm and 14 cm x 10.2 cm respectively and a tapered Cardew style slipware bowl, 21.5 cm diameter x 10 cm high (5) (ARR) CONDITION REPORTS The oval slipware bowl has clearly been used, there is some loss of lustre to the glaze. There is a hairline crack running down the inside from the top edge. There is crazing to the cream glaze throughout. Surface scratches, some losses to the glaze in various places including the rim. The rectangular tray with the stylised fish has crazing throughout and surface scratches. The dish with the linear decoration has some white marks and some crazing. There is a hairline crack, possibly done during firing as the glaze appears to be over the top of it, to one corner. The larger dish with the scrolling decoration/serpent has some light scratches, crazing to the glaze and some splodge like marks to the yellow glaze - unsure if this is original or a later development. The Cardew style bowl has significant areas of glaze missing to the interior, has clearly been used as heavily scratched to the inside, losses to the glaze on the outside in line with what looks like bubbles on the glaze. All items have general wear and tear conducive with age and use, firing faults etc - see images for more details

A modern reproduction mahogany bookcase cabinet in the George III taste, the top with moulded cornice over three glazed cabinet doors enclosing adjustable shelving over three further cupboard doors, on splayed bracket feet, 182.5 cm wide x 48 cm deep x 229 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The bookcase comes into three sections, the very top pediment, the middle glazed section and the base. No signs of woodworm or rot. There is a large scratch or dent to the right hand side door. Various areas of the veneer is faded and there are various knocks, bumps etc throughout to the veneer. Bookcase is stable however, there is something a bit strange going on as the middle door and the right hand door are slightly down from the left hand door and there is a gap at the top. It maybe that the pieces need taking apart from the back and re-attaching as the left hand glazed door is slightly up at the base. Only the middle glass door lock works and opens, the other two doors are locked and the key doesn't open them. The bottom cupboards - the key opens and unlocks the right hand door and the middle door but not the left hand door. The right hand door is warped. All the glass panes are intact but some have some light surface scratches. The shelves for the glass top section are all missing as are the supports. The back panel is intact. The piece needs some work throughout including sorting out the warping, some small areas of loss throughout, shelves replaced etc. The feet have significant scratches, some signs of mildew etc. There is significant crazing to the varnish throughout. A box containing a Villeroy & Boch "Riviera" part dinner service, including dinner plates, side plates, bowls, teacups, teapot, etc., together with a box containing a Minton "Marlow" part tea service (2 boxes) CONDITION REPORTS Villeroy & Boch - four of the dinner plates are okay but have been heavily used with a matt like finish to the centre from the knife marks. Three of the dinner plates have chips or other marks. Three of the soup bowls are okay, look barely used, one has a fault mark to the inside. Six side plates have knife marks etc, have been used. The seven saucers have been used and require a clean. Two of the cups are okay, the other two cups have chips to the rim. One sugar bowl is okay, the other sugar bowl has a chip to the rim. Tea pot is okay. All items have clearly been used - see images for more details.The Minton pieces are all filthy and in need of a good clean. Some light knife marks, otherwise generally okay. General wear and tear conducive with age and use - see images for more details
