A well matched pair of 19th century mahogany waterfall bookcases by Gillows of Lancaster, each having three graduated tiers over pair of base drawers, one drawer to each bookcase stamped Gillows Lancaster, on dwarf square tapering supports with brass cup casters, widths 69cm and 72.4cm, d.34cm, h.112cm.These are a matched pair – one is approx. 4cm wider than the other and 1cm deeper.Slight subtle difference to shape of handles (all same pattern), and construction of bases.Both stand well.All moulding complete, but two are loose.One with two fine splits to top.Both otherwise generally god, unrestored and with age wear etc.Some light paint spots which can easily rub off leaving no trace.Both with shrinkage splits to back panel.Inner shelf depths approx 22, 27 and 32cm, and 25, 26 and 31cm.Both front feet to one spliced.
