An early 20thC certified natural Sri-Lankan colour-change sapphire ring, the shoulders millegrain set with six small diamonds in 'PLAT' white metal, the 5.34 carat rectangular cushion cut stone showing a pronounced colour change from cornflower blue in natural daylight to purple under incandescent light, accompanied by a Gem & Pearl Laboratory Report stating that the sapphire is of natural Sri-Lankan origin with no evidence of heat treatment. A Chinese porcelain bowl , the interior blue and white decorated with flowering rockwork and chrysanthemums, the exterior decorated in enamels with reserves of flowers and foliage within a powder blue ground border, all heightened in gilt, underglaze blue seal mark verso, dia. 14.5cm, probably Republic period; together with another Republic period porcelain dragon bowl, decorated in bright enamels with two five-claw dragons, the interior with further single dragon, underglaze blue seal mark verso, dia. 15cm (2)Condition report: Dragon bowl – numerous rim chips and frits, fine hairline from top edge approx. 4cm, light handling wear, otherwise good.Bowl with floral panels – no chips or cracks, enamels good, an excellent example.

A well matched pair of 19th century mahogany waterfall bookcases by Gillows of Lancaster, each having three graduated tiers over pair of base drawers, one drawer to each bookcase stamped Gillows Lancaster, on dwarf square tapering supports with brass cup casters, widths 69cm and 72.4cm, d.34cm, h.112cm.These are a matched pair – one is approx. 4cm wider than the other and 1cm deeper.Slight subtle difference to shape of handles (all same pattern), and construction  of bases.Both stand well.All moulding complete, but two are loose.One with two fine splits to top.Both otherwise generally god, unrestored and with age wear etc.Some light paint spots which can easily rub off leaving no trace.Both with shrinkage splits to back panel.Inner shelf depths approx 22, 27 and 32cm, and 25, 26 and 31cm.Both front feet to one spliced.

Uniformly finely bound in full contemporary straight grained morocco, ornate gilt on the spines and covers with a central lyre device to each board, all edges gilt. Contained in a purpose built miniature glass fronted cabinet bookcase. Comprising 6 volumes of Epistles, 6 of Verse and 6 of Prose. 15.5 inches tall, 12 inches wide.(18)Condition report: Damage to pediment of cabinet. Occasional light spotting/foxing to some volumes. Insect (?) damage to front board and top of spine on volume 6 verse.
