A large Italian silvered metal sanctuary lamp, now as a hanging light, the body inscribed with date 1684, the lobed and bulbous body engraved with Saints in vignettes and impressed with foliage, descending to a conforming terminal, the body approximately 48cm long, presented with later frosted glass shade Provenance: Private Collection, The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale, OxfordshireCondition Report: The lamp bears the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. The surface, which has a hammered texture overall, is dented in places, and the silvered finish has flaked away in areas exposing the darker metal beneath. The terminal has possibly been reattached.
