There is a small area of light cracking in the pigment close to the bottom edge on the left and there are a number of small dark spots apparent over the lighter areas mainly centred in the middle and upper and lower middle sections of the canvas.

There is a horizontal curved shape tare in the paper, approx. 2.5cm in length, at the right edge, at middle. There are two tiny damage marks with light slightly visible from rear but paper not appearing to be holed right through and another slight tiny indentation to the paper located to the right of these. A few barely discernible horizontal/diagonal, slight in nature, glistening lines over the lower middle section of the right half area, one of which being slightly abrasive in feel. A few tiny white marks located top area of head and diagonal slight white mark located at the bottom of the chin.

Another small fragment is missing in the left hand section at middle and another one in the middle area at centre with light cracking in the pigment to the right of this.

SCOTTISH SCHOOL (LATE 19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG WOMAN Oil on canvas, 53 x 43cm (21 x 17") Condition Report: Stretcher bar lines are visible on all sides with cracking in the pigment down the one on the right. There is craquelure evident over much of the surface with the exception being the lower right quarter section. The canvas is very thin and there are four small areas visible from the front where pigment has been lost and the canvas is bare and extremely thin. There are light staining markings at the top, left, in the form of a vertical, approx. 9cm in length, an area of similar, lower middle left, and the smallest area in proximity to the bottom right corner with there being small splashes of similar predominantly within the lower left quarter section. There are a number of tiny areas of paint loss, which are none too obvious as a result of being located on the darker areas mainly around the peripheries.,
