A Victorian gold snake necklace, with graduated links, the snake's head with applied foliage, graduated emeralds and ruby eyes. From its mouth, hands and emerald set heart. Condition Report: 37.5cm not including chain (for quite a small neck.) Generally very good condition. A small repair to the underside of the snake's head. The middle emerald is light in colour and has a large chip. The link in the mouth is possibly replaced but the heart is original.
A good Georgian portrait miniature of Ralph Allen (1737-1777) of Bathampton Manor, Somerset, barrister-in-law in Middle Temple, in gold brooch mount, 3.8 x 3.1cm, inscribed to the back. Condition Report: Perfect but for light scratches to glass. Online colour is a little dull. Frame has a slot to receive a tang.
Two good quality early to mid 20th Century Paisley throws The first on black ground approx 3.06x1.78m, the second on ivory ground approx 3.32x1.72m (excluding fringing).(illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Dark throw is fragile in places with some fraying to edges and areas of small holes, see images including an area of hand repair. This could be the title of this rich lot, whose heart is one the most stunning companies on the last decades: Marchesi di Gresy. A very elegant style, light tones, deep perfumes and great drink. Three good vintages and, above all, the two most important crus produced by Tenuta Cisa Asinari. The modern Starderi de La Spinetta is intriguing, the Barbaresco by Nada is surely a high-level wine by a valuable producer and the Ovello by Produttori can always be trusted.
