A South African medal, with seven bars, awarded to '265 Bugler' RH Nankervis Imperial Light Infantry, Prince of Wales Light Horse, South Africa 1901, Orange Free State, Cape Colony, Laing's Nek, Transvaal, Relief of Ladysmith, Tugela Heights, together with Hawkes & Sons No 7 March book, two South African WWI War and Victory medals awarded to Private R H Nankervis, 12th South African Infantry, and discharge papers, other ephemera, and a silver mounted conductor's baton inscribed 'Presented to R H Nankervis by the Major Richardson, 8.7.15', cased, Nankervis was one time Band Master of the Krugersdorp and Brakpan Town Bands
A GLAZED FRAME CONTAINING A WWII GROUP OF FIVE MEDALS, together with period group of miniatures, medals consist of GRI Military Cross, reverse dated 1946, 1939-45, France and Germany Stars, Defence and War medals (MID emblem on war medal), miniatures identical together with Kings MID certificate named to Acting Major G.P. Earnshaw dated 8th November 1945, Award certificate for WWII medals and Buckingham Palace certificate for Award, (MC ?) Major G.P. Earnshaw M.C. (South Staffordshire Regt), George Pegler Earnshaw served in WWII with the 2nd Btn Highland Light Infantry and later with the South Staffordshire, he saw action in the North West Europe Campaign and the push across the Rhine into Germany, with the groups are an original black and white photo of Earnshaw wearing his ribbon bar and HLI uniform, together with the original box of issue for the Military Cross and Postage box and ribbon bar, information from the National Archives states 'Major Earnshaw has fought as a Platoon Commander of a Rifle Company, with Great Determination Courage and Loyalty, his coolness under fire and clear judgement has gained the confidence of all around him at Groesbeek on February 8th 1945 Earnshaw led his men against German 'Siegfrid Line' Defences, due to problems with the 'Flails' on the Tanks, Earnshaw led his men through the ungapped minefield in order to keep up with the offensive, this action led to the capture of his objective on time, later on March 27th 1945 it was largely due to his determination to close with the enemy that he was was able to capture and hold an objective at Camshof , however it was at Stadensen (approximately 180 miles west of Berlin) that he shined again, Earnshaw and his men were surrounded, but despite the heavy odds against him, him and his men rallied and knocked out a large number of 22 S.P. Guns and half-tracks, this action took place on 15th April 1945, there are several mentions in the London Gazette
