The hand stitched quilt featuring gardening motifs, such as flowers, a gardening can, butterflies, sunflowers and a house. Sewn from fabric dress pieces. With blue border, the whole throw backed in light purple fabric; in very good & clean condition. Measures approx. 195cm x 173cm.

Antiquarian. 1772 Junius, Stat Nominis Umbra. Printed for Henry Sampson Woodfall in Pater Noster Row, 1772. Two volumes. Contemporary full calf binding, gilt tooled borders & spine labels. Light rubbing to spines, vol 2 starting at the head of the spine and both volumes with loss to the tails. Ownership bookplate of James Corry Sherrard to front pastedown of both volumes, some offsetting to the first & last leaves of each book. First edition, lacking the reissue's additional table of contents & index. 12mo.  'Junius' was the pseudonym of an outspoken Whig politician who anonymously published letters critical of the government of King George III in the Public Advertiser between 1770 and 1772; his publisher, Sampson Woodfall, was tried for libel as the result of publishing the controversial polemic. Junius' identity has never been confirmed, but some scholars believe that politician Philip Francis was behind the letters.

Qty: qty The dinner plates with scratching to the glaze and rubbing to the decoration throughout, commensurate with age and use. Twenty-two of the dinner plates with craquelure and discolouration throughout, of which sixteen with further cracks, fractures and biscuit chips. Five of the remaining dinner plates with biscuit chips or cracks, one of which with a reattached edge - the re-glued piece is approximately 20cm long. Leaving seventeen dinner plates in generally good condition.The soup bowls with general scratching to the glaze and rubbing to the decoration throughout. Eight soup bowls with craquelure throughout. Six with further damage, including one which has been cracked into two pieces and re-glued. The seven other damaged plates with notable cracks, fractures and biscuit chips. Leaving four in generally good condition.The side plates with rubbing to the decoration and scratching to the glaze throughout. Seven with craquelure throughout, of which five have further cracks and fractures across the plates. The remaining three paints without craquelure damage, one with biscuit chips to the rim and one with a crack running from the rim.
