C.1840. Manufactured for the Josselyn family. Each piece bearing the family crest of a hawk foot with a bell, and the family motto 'Faire Mon Devoir'.The service consisting of fourty-five dinner plates (27cm diameter), twelve soup bowls (26cm diameter), ten side plates (23.5cm diameter), a large meat plate (53.5cm x 42cm), six platters, a pair of lidded tureens, a soup tureen without lid, a pair of sauce boats, and a further lid. Qty: qty The dinner plates with scratching to the glaze and rubbing to the decoration throughout, commensurate with age and use. Twenty-two of the dinner plates with craquelure and discolouration throughout, of which sixteen with further cracks, fractures and biscuit chips. Five of the remaining dinner plates with biscuit chips or cracks, one of which with a reattached edge - the re-glued piece is approximately 20cm long. Leaving seventeen dinner plates in generally good condition.The soup bowls with general scratching to the glaze and rubbing to the decoration throughout. Eight soup bowls with craquelure throughout. Six with further damage, including one which has been cracked into two pieces and re-glued. The seven other damaged plates with notable cracks, fractures and biscuit chips. Leaving four in generally good condition.The side plates with rubbing to the decoration and scratching to the glaze throughout. Seven with craquelure throughout, of which five have further cracks and fractures across the plates. The remaining three paints without craquelure damage, one with biscuit chips to the rim and one with a crack running from the rim. Leaving one plate in generally good condition.The meat plate in generally good condition with one small puncture mark to the ground.Two meat plates measuring 53.5cm x 42cm with notable repairs and damage throughout.One dish measuring 33cm x 26cm with a large crack which has been re-glued.The dish measuring 28cm x 22.5cm with discolouration, craquelure throughout and a large stapled crack running across the body.The two remaining dishes measuring 26cm x 21cm in generally good condition.One tureen with significant repair to the handle and a small cracks running from the rim, the lid in generally good condition.The other tureen with significant cracks across the body, the lid with stapled repair, discolouration, and craquelure across the body.The soup tureen with a small amount of craquelure around the rim and discolouration to the handles. Minor chips out of the foot.The sauce boats with discolouration and craquelure across the bodies. One with a fracture running from the rim down towards the crest. Chips to the foot. The other with significant repair to the saucer, a repair to the handle, and a crack running from the rim down the body of the boat.The rest of the pieces with light rubbing to the decoration and scratching to the glaze.
