Third Reich Customs (Zollgrenzschutz) Leaders Summer Pattern Peaked Cap, superb example of a leaders peaked cap for the German customs officials. Fixed white top with gold bullion wire bordering the central green band. Gilt metal customs officials eagle and customs pattern cockade wreath with separate reichs cockade. Golden leaders chin cords with pebbled side buttons. Interior of the cap with tan leather sweatband and satin cloth lining having Pekuro celluloid diamond. Some light service wear and couple of areas of staining to the white top. Overall a very good example of a scarce Third Reich peaked cap.

Post 1902 Highland Light Infantry Officers Shoulder Belt Plate, fine rectangular seeded gilt plate with silvered star of the Order of the Thistle, gilt kings crown with red enamel work, silvered horn to the centre with gilt HLI within, below gilt ASSAYE scroll and Elephant. An early 20th century multi gem bracelet, circa 1900, each link set with a precious or semi precious gemstone in a cut down collet setting, including sapphires, a yellow sapphire, blue and brown zircon and garnet, 19.4cm long, 27.2g grossCondition Report: Oval cut sapphires approximately 4.53 carats and 5.71 carats. Yellow sapphire approximately 6.20 carats. Cabochon sapphires weight not calculated, one 11mm x 9.8mm x 6mm, the other on the clasp with asterism 11.4mm x10.7mm x approximately 5.3mm (closed back sett, so not accurately measured. The zircons have nibbling to the facet edges, the garnets have some abrasion, some rubbing to the sapphire facet edges, The sapphires are untested for treatments, they have some healed factures and small inclusions. The star sapphire has some naturals to the surface and a slightly yellow tinted internal fracture to one side of the stone. A 19th century blue and white enamelled locket for the Fairfax family, the front with a lion passant guardant above Fare Fac on an engine turned blue enamel ground within a white decorative border, the reverse with the initials FV in white enamel on a blue engine turned enamel ground, the locket opening to reveal a portrait miniature of Thomas Fairfax (1612-1671), the other side with a finely engraved oval panel with coat of arms and inscribed Tho: Fairfax Knt for King & Parl:, 5.5cm long, 35.8g grossThomas Fairfax (1612-1672), third Baron Fairfax of Cameron. Fairfax was the Commander-in-Chief of the Parliamentary forces during the Civil War, a driving force in the development of the New Model Army, and victor at the Battle of Naseby in 1645 and the decisive battle at Langport against the Royalist Army. Although a Parliamentarian, Fairfax was against the proposed execution of Charles I, and fought against it until the end, and was purported to be shocked when meeting Bishop Juxon and Thomas Herbert whilst they were escorting the king's corpse back through the long gallery of Banqueting House, Whitehall. In later life Fairfax played an essential part in the restoration of Charles II to the English throne.The engraved panel is the coat of arms Fairfax would have had between 1641 and 1648, as Thomas was knighted in 1641, and inherited the title Lord Fairfax from his father in 1648. Any coat of arms created after 1648 would have acknowledged his superior position as Lord Fairfax. The portrait miniature inside the locket is after the portrait miniature of Fairfax by John Hoskins (1595-1664) dated 1650, which is in the collection at Leeds Castle.Condition Report: The locket has some losses to the enamel at the suspensory loop in particular, the rest of the enamel has some light scratches and scuffs, some discolouration to the interior gold, no major damage to the miniature, the panel is well engraved, the hinge in good working orderCondition Report Disclaimer

A set of twelve late George II silver shaped circular dinner plates by Edward Wakelin, London 1754, with raised gadrooned rims, engraved with a coat-of-arms, numbered from a larger set, scratch weights, 25cm (9 3/4in) diameter, 6342g (203.9 oz) Provenance: Property of a Gentleman.The arms are those of Stephen FOX (1704-1776) who in 1741 was created Baron Ilchester and Stavordale of Redlynch Park, Somerset. Later in 1756 he was created Earl Ilchester and in 1758 assumed the name Stephen STRANGWAYS-FOX on inheriting the STRANGWAYS estate in accordance with the inheritance of his wife, Elizabeth Horner STRANGWAYS the eventual heir of her brother Thomas STRANGWAYS (died 1726), who at her arranged marriage in 1731 was aged thirteen years.
