A mid-19th century sampler inscribed 'Jane Treloar Crelly finished this work Dec. 7th 1852, aged 9 years', 50 x 40cm, also a framed and glazed needlework of a spaniel (2).Additional InformationAround the edge of the sampler it has been nailed to board, there are many, many holes and dark stains around these nails, colours have faded in parts and small holes and light losses throughout as you would expect, the spaniel has been finished in two parts so the central panel was worked by one individual, the upper and lower borders by another.

There is a crack which starts on the corner of the base and runs into the plinth of the base and across her left ankle/leg. Light wear to the paintwork in parts. Small crack to the underside of her dress which does terminate into the main body of the dress. There is also unusual glaze gather/joining point where the figure meets the plinth. There is a definite colour change from white to yellow, although this does not show up under UV light.
