Swivel breech mechanism with a bolster at each breech. Swivel breech mechanism is activated by pulling a trigger forward of the trigger guard which releases the breech making it free to swivel. Breech is engraved on each side with finely executed scrolls and on top and bottom with stiff leaf and Acanthus leaf engraving. Single lock in original percussion configuration, on right side. Lockplate engraved with scrolls and florals and silver side plate on opposite side engraved en suite and signed "GIBBS", probably the owner's name. Double set triggers. Smoothbore three stage turned cannon screw-barrel with lug mounted on bottom, top marked "LONDON" near breech, bottom marked "COLLUMBELL" and has London view, proof, and foreigner marks. Left side of breech engraved with scrolls. Bottom of breech and barrel marked with "2", as this was once one of a pair. Action is on right side and has been converted to percussion. Hammer tooled border matches that around the action borders. Steel trigger guard with engraved daisy on bow. Walnut grip with silver furniture including grotesque mask buttcap, highly relief wrist vacant wrist escutcheon with shell and flowers, and sideplate with a castle tower and arms. Relief carved Georgian shell around barrel tang. Very good condition, barrel cleaned and now retains a grey patina with some light pitting, action darker grey patina with an old coat of varnish, markings very good. Silver mounts show little wear, but finial of buttcap is missing. Grip very good with some repair around sideplate. Round smoothbore steel barrel with bayonet lug mounted on top, near muzzle. Flintlock mechanism with lockplate measuring 6-1/4" and marked "Charleville" in center and stamped with a crown over "D". Typical French Model 1766 steel furniture, button-tipped ramrod and sling swivels. Full length walnut stock, left side stamped with "D" inspection mark, right side carved with initials "C+N", thought to be associated with American use. About 37,000 long arms, many of them being Model 1766 muskets, arrived from France in the Spring of 1777 into Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This French acknowledgement of support was a direct result of the Continental victory at the Battle of Saratoga in October 1777. For a similar example, see page 93, plate 43 MM of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. Excellent condition; barrel retains a dark, even brown patina with some light pitting near breech. Lock is probably one of the finest in existence, with only some corrosion in pan and marks on frizzen face, the lock is pristine with excellent markings, very crisp edges and an even brown patina, matching that of the barrel. Steel furniture has a heavy brown patina, some pitting on buttplate and sideplate. Stock excellent with scattered dents and marks from use, one minor chip forward of lock. Walnut stock with checkered wrist and brass take-down caps on two-piece stock. Very good condition, barrel shows scattered marks from use and probably rebrowned when used in 1976 muzzleloading competition. The second half of the two-piece forestock was replicated and replaced by Robert Fisch, and shot at the 1976 muzzle loading world championship in Versailles, France. Lock retains a grey patina and has some light pitting, cock has been repaired at neck. Stock refinished and has scattered light marks from use. Brass unpolished. Flintlock with unique mechanism, where springs are attached to cocks and when cocked, hold them in place. Locks and cocks have finely engraved scrolls and patterns. Fire-blued springs, waterproof pans, reinforced cocks and thumb-engaged cock safeties. Large engraved steel triggerguard with fire blued double triggers. Figured walnut stock with shaped checkered patterns and vacant octagonal silver wrist escutcheon. Engraved steel buttcap with ramrod in grip. Ramrod unscrews and can be removed. Excellent condition, showing nearly no use. Retains 98% case colors on barrels and 70% fading case colors on locks, fire blued components retain 90% finish. Includes a reproduction of a 16th century cabasset of Italian style with japanned interior. A few small dents and light surface rust in spots on exterior; a reproduction of a French cabasset of the late 16th century with scenes of St. George and the Dragon in repousse; a Indo-Persian style helmet made for the tourist trade. Etched with Islamic style symbols, chain mail neck guard, sliding nose guard and two plume sockets, spike is missing. Numerous brown spots and surface rust on the inside and an Indo-Persian helmet, 17-18th century forged sliding nose guard, plume socket (other broken off) and chain-mail neck guard. The iron crown etched with (floral?) patterns (now obscure). Light to medium oxidation on the outside of helmet an Mongolian style armor helmet with nose guard and one spike, one broken off, otherwise good condition.

Colt introduced the Python Hunter in 1981. This early example does not have the white lines or the red ramp. According to the Snake Book, approximately 2,500 Hunter Models were manufactured. Left side of barrel is stamped "Python Hunter". Cylinder faces shows no signs of powder burn other than test. This is a standard issue stainless steel Colt Python that was sold in Canada, therefore it has Canadian proof marks on barrel, frame and cylinder. This early single action revolver was closely associated with use by Jesse James. It is an open top with scoop flutes. Matching number on barrel and cylinder. Factory nickel finish with skull crusher bird's head frame and black composite grips. Case colored hammer and blued trigger guard. Mechanics are perfect. Near mint bore. Tight as new lock up. These early pre-war Smith & Wesson .22 caliber target revolvers were introduced housed in the two piece maroon hinged box with green end label. Has matching serial number written on bottom. They quickly switched to the much more recognizable red picture box; and this is the first early maroon boxed Model K-22 that this author has ever seen. This was corroborated when Smith & Wesson grew, David Carrol who confirmed the scarcity of these maroon first issued boxed examples. In addition the the rare box, this revolver does not appear to have been fired. Cylinder does have a light drag line. Gun retains 99% of the original pre-war factory high polish blue finish. There is literally no wear around the firing pin and no cylinder burn. Has a serrated case colored trigger, early style case colored hammer with patent date on back, target front sight, and flush adjustable rear sight. Matching serial number on bottom of barrel and back of cylinder. As new inside and out. Beautiful pre-war checkered walnut grips have silver medallion and are numbered to gun on the right panel. The first time the Colt Single Action Army is stamped on barrel with ".45 ACP". Comes with an extra .45 LC cylinder numbered to gun. Manufactured at the Royal Arsenal in Erfurt, Germany for the German Armed Forces who began producing Lugers in 1910. The chamber is dated 1915. Toggle is stamped "Erfurt" with crown. Has all matching numbers including aluminum bottom magazine. Erfurt Lugers usually bear inspectors proofs on nearly every partof weapon including the grip screws, which this has. The inside grip panels have the Imperial eagle proof mark; this same mark can be found on almost every small part of this gun. This was basically the standard issue Luger used during the first World War. Has the brilliant straw colored small parts. Pistol has seen little use with light edge edge wear, muzzle wear and light wear on hump of sideplate. Still retains 97%. Near mint grips. Fine action and mint bore. An incredible survivor of the first World War period that usually appear in rough condition. This example has seem very little use. Manufactured 1927. This revolver started out as a standard New Service six shot double action revolver with blued finish. A custom low profile clock adjustable target rear sight has been perfectly fitted to the frame. A front sight ramp and large serrated blade have been fitted to the front. Has a custom wide spur checkered target hammer, much like Smith & Wesson target hammer. Trigger has been stippled. Sports a near mint pair of King style checkered walnut right palm swell with left thumbrest grips. Gun has a hint of muzzle wear and light drag line, retaining 98% original finish. This gun has been altered or customized to work in the single action mode only. The action has been finely tuned with the lightest of trigger pull, smooth as silk. Near mint bore. This revolver started life as a standard Colt Official Police .38 Heavy Barrel revolver. A King stamped No. 137 sight was installed, a King stamped micrometered click adjusting windage and elevation with automatic lock No. 160 was installed, a king type checkered offset hammer (not stamped), short throw action, custom coarse checkered wide target trigger, and a pair of smooth walnut finger groove left hand thumbrest grips. Action is smooth as silk. Near mint bore. Aside from some light muzzle wear and light drag line with some minor light high edge wear, gun retains 98% original blue. Nazi eagle and Imperial proof stamped on right side of barrel. This pistol has light right side rail wear at forward portion, light muzzle wear, light forward left rail wear, and light wear on sideplate hump. Retains 97% original military blue finish. Manufactured by Mauser for certain units in Germany. This pistol bears the 1940 date on chamber, Mauser banner on toggle. All matching numbers including grips and magazine. This pistol bears numerous German proofs marks, but none of the Nazi marks. The theory is that this group of pistols was produced for police and other non-military users. Since it did not see battle, it is not surprising that this pistol remains in near mint, all original condition. Retains approximately 98% factory blue finish mixing with some light patina on left side frame. Comes with a Berlin 1940 dated holster produced by Schambach & Company. Has an original period loading tool. Holster and pistol are near mint. It would be extremely difficult to improve upon this particular model. Manufactured by Waffenfabrik Bern, Switzerland for the Swill Military. Switzerland began to manufactured their own weapons after Germany could no longer supply them due to the first World War. Era of manufacture is approximately 1918 to 1922. This example has the "P" stamp with release date on left side of frame (P45 - 1945) and became surplus at that time. This pistol has all matching numbers with the exception of the Swiss style checkered walnut grips with borders not being numbered. Has steel magazine with brown plastic end, not numbered but has Swiss cross. Top of toggle is stamped "Waffenfabrik Bern" with cross. Left side of barrel has Swiss cross. Right side of toggle has Swiss cross, as does the right side of frame twice. Features grip safety, straw colors, blued finish, scarce maker stamped front sight protector (H. Luthy). These were manufactured by DWM for commercial sale in the U.S. from the serial range 26500 to 69000. This was the most popular variation of Luger in the U.S. prior to World War I. Chamber has the American Eagle stamp. Toggle is stamped DWM. Numerous Imperial proof marks. Front of frame has the Germany export stamp. Wood bottom magazine is not numbered. Checkered walnut stocks not numbered. This model still have grip safety, blued finish and straw finished small parts. This all original pistol remains in excellent condition having seen little use. This is a standard Colt Single Action Army Revolver manufactured in 1905. Features include a 7-1/2" barrel, single action, six shot, caliber .44-40, blued finish, and case colored frame and hammer. All matching numbers. The left side of the barrel is stamped "Colt Frontier Six Shooter". The barrel retains approximately 25% original factory blue with the balance a smooth gun metal grey. Cylinder has traces of blue in the flutes. Frame has traces of color in the recesses. The grip straps are basically gun metal grey. Grips are a pair of vintage stag that fit fairly well. Gun indexes properly with all four clicks. Strong bore with some light frosting. Nice looking early cowboy gun in popular caliber that should be a good shooter. This Smith & Wesson Performance Center gun was a special edition produced in 2002 to commemorate the 150 years of the Smith & Wesson Company. Standard features of this Schofield revolver include 7" barrel, single action, top break, blued finish, walnut grips, with case colored latch, hammer, and trigger guard. It has two-piece smooth walnut grips with the inspector cartouche on left panel. Chambered for the .45 S&W cartridge, as were the original Schofield revolvers. The left side has all of the original style correct patent dates. Special features include dated and inscribed gold panels on both sides of the barrel and gold panels on both sides of frame with images of Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson. The cylinder is a six shot, fluted with engraving and gold inlays of the Smith & Wesson Volcanic pistol. There is light engraving around all the inlays. Gun is in as new condition with no signs of having ever been fired, albeit there is a barely perceptible drag line. Comes in the original box with paperwork and medallion. This is referred to as the .22 Lady Smith Second Model manufactured from 1906 to 1910. Seven shot, double action, built on the round butt M frame in factory nickel finish, cased colored hammer and trigger, and Smith & Wesson logo black composite grips. There is no number inside grips. This revolver has matching serial numbers on under side of barrel and back of cylinder. They are chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge. The scarce early revolver remains in near mint all original factory condition, retaining 98% factory nickel finish. Cylinder has light drag line and minor high edge wear. Indexes perfectly both single and double action and wears a fine strong rifled bore. Manufactured in 1970. For some unknown reason, only 2% of Colt's production of Pre-Series 70 Model 1911-A1 were manufactured in factory nickel finish. This percentage jumped substantially upon the introduction of the Series 70. Maybe it was the added cost of the nickel finish or quite possibly that the production demand on Pre-Series 70's that limited the number of pistols manufactured with this finish. Regardless, this is one of the most handsome pistols ever manufactured. Features two toned high polish nickel finish with the top of slide and bottom of frame finished in satin. This pistol sports a pair of genuine bone grips. All original period parts. Gun retains approximately 99% of the original factory finish showing little to no use with ever so light drag line. This revolver was manufactured 1931 to 1941 and was sent to King for custom work. Including King stamped ramp reflector base with a King stamped No. 140 blade, King micrometer click adjusting windage and elevation rear sight with automatic lock, registered U.S. Patent Office Smith & Wesson hammer, King customized and checkered offset, serrated trigger, and sports a pair of King checkered walnut thumbrest target grips. King has honed the action and customized to fire single action only with the smoothest let off you've ever tried. In King's No. 19 catalog, they offered this model already fitted, sans grips, for $61 with grips an additional $8, which was almost twice the price of a standard gun. The barrel has some thinning on top, retaining 75-80% blue. Cylinder has light drag line. Frame and cylinder retain approximately 90% of the original Smith & Wesson high polish mirror blue finish. Standard features include high polished blued finish with matte finish top, wide sight plane, adjustable target rear sight, base of frame is matte finished, serrated slide stop, safety and trigger with grooved arched mainspring housing, and gold medallion checkered walnut grips. Has one original Colt marked magazine. The slide is masterfully engraved on both sides with scroll pattern, light engraving on both side of frame. Barrel is stamped "Colt Cal .22 LR" and has been reblued. This pistol retains virtually all of the custom applied finish. Does not appear to have been shot since engraved. 4,999 commercial Model 1911 pistols were manufactured in 1924 and Colt made a special run of 10,000 U.S. marked pistols for the military that same year. The first run since 1919 which limited civilian production. These are often referred to as the transition models as they were developing the A1 model that went into full production in 1925 making this one of the scarcer production years for Colt civilian models. This pistol remains in phenomenal condition. The grip straps are thinning a bit with a smooth patina. There is an ever so light drag line. Otherwise the frame and slide retain about 98% of the brilliant factory blue finish. Has all early features including smooth, long trigger, checkered slide stop and safety, smooth mainspring housing and lanyard ring, short checkered wide spur hammer, second type standard rear sight with full checkered walnut grip panels. Manufactured in 1906 during the second year of production. Only 6,100 of these pistols were manufactured between 1905 and 1911 and were replaced by the Model 1911 which began production in 1912. Therefore, this is the forerunner to its more famous offspring. Production of this pistol was less than one thousand guns per year and most saw heavy use and very few have survived in such high, all original, factory condition as seen in this stunning example. The grip straps are thinning to a blue, soft gray patina and there is some light high edge wear. The balance of blue finish on the frame and slide are nearly 98%. Still has the beautiful Nitre blue on extractor. Has the round hammer with traces of case colors. Large portion of Nitre blue on sides of trigger and sports a near mint pair of diamond checkered walnut grips with fire blue screws. Bore is near mint. All factory legends are sharp. This is the finest condition Model 1905 we have come across in several years and would be extremely difficult to find a finer example. A total of 1,000 Double Diamond sets were produced in 1986 only. One of the most handsome sets ever produced by Colt, and due to the Python, one of the most desirable. Gun (A) is a Colt Officer's Model is factory nickel plated with Colt "Double Diamond" stamp on left side of slide, smooth wood grips with "150th" silver medallion. Appears unfired with a couple minute storage marks. Gun (B) is a full factory nickel Python, unfired. Islamic helmet with spike at top of helm and lobster-tail neck guard. No lining. Traditional form in use from 17th-19th century, although probably the latter. Crown made of twelve tapering panels of sheet iron, riveted together and to a band below, to which is affixed the lobster-tail neck guard. Together with four Islamic armor arm guards - 12-3/4" tall. Each composed of sheet iron with brass decorations and edge trim applied. Probably 19th century. Light pitting to the helmet otherwise good.
This special order Carbine features a half magazine and is chambered for the popular .38-40 cartridge. Manufactured in 1912. Standard features include 20" round barrel, blued finish, lever action, walnut stocks, carbine butt, with the post front sight, and carbine ladder rear. Has a replacement ring in the original stud. Barrel retains approximately 85% original factory blue with some light freckling. Frame has flaked to approximately 30% with the balance patina. Stocks are excellent and proud to metal with no cracks or chips. Action is fine. Strong bore with light frosting.
