The locking catch is corroded and does not appear to lock into anything inside the scabbard and there is perhaps something missing from the throat of the scabbard to facilitate locking. The scabbard has an old dark crack which appears stable and does not move when pressure is applied to it. The end cap of the scabbard is missing and an ugly rubber cap has been placed there instead.
