A scarce Vic RN officer’s pattern sword of the Royal Dockyard Battalion, slightly curved, fullered blade 31” by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, etched with title “Royal Dockyard Battn” and crowned fouled anchor on one side, and crowned VR cypher on the other, all in tightly scrolled panels with acorns and foliage, gilt half basket hilt with turn down inner portion and incorporating crowned fouled anchor, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its black leather scabbard with locket and chape, the locket and 2 opposing rings and “Wilkinson, Gun & Sword Maker, Pall mall, London” in shield. GC, the hilt and scabbard mounts retaining approx 50% gilt (light pitting patches to blade edges). Plate 4
