Also, a 12pp brochure for the Bentley Continental, with specifications and images of various styles to include the Sports Saloon by Mulliner, in very good condition; a 1947 Bentley Mk IV Brochure; a Bentley 'S' Series colour brochure, two examples but both scuffed and a 1952 Mk IV brochure with a cream cover and silver logo attached, 24pp and five colour cards and a price list in the rear folding pocket, Good fettle, but with a light crease to the corner of the front cover, and other documents. In The Style of Terence Cuneo. A watercolour and bodycolour drawing on tinted light grey paper depicting, in horizontal format, an aero-engined racing car from the 1920s, seemingly speeding along the track at Brooklands, and with a fast-moving express train in the background. Evidently inspired by the work of Cuneo and with an imitation of his characteristic signature in the bottom left-hand corner, the detailed painting is nevertheless by a competent unknown artist. Mounted, framed and glazed. Visible image size 33 x 47cm. Good condition.
A Sabino Mocking Bird Mascot. Mounted on a brass and chromium-plated illumination base, (light fitting missing) the genus of the bird is not clear, but probably a Northern Mocking Bird which can be found in France. The Vaseline glass is in perfect condition; the foot cannot be seen, however. The mascot 5-inches (13cms) high
M.G. Magnette. A 110pp, March 1934 Manual for the KA and KD Types (2 & 3 Carburettors) with good images and detail, metal clip held pages to a light green card cover and a fold-out gearbox, cam shaft set up and oiling charts, with a wiring diagram in the rear pocket. The cover a little feathered on the edges, the editorial good and clean.
A c1950 Thanet Silver Light. With a 24-inch frame numbered SL1472, retaining its original chromium-plated front and rear forks but with a repainted black frame with Thanet decals applied. Other features include a combination Sturmey Archer four-speed hub gear (dated 1951) and a Constrictor gear-change operated from a down-tube control, centre-pull Mafac brakes, red Bluemels mudguards, 15-inch aluminium drop handlebars fitted to a GB extension and a narrow Brooks racing saddle. The ensemble incorporates matching 27-inch Alumlite wheels, front wheel spinners, bell, bottle carrier and a near-side lamp bracket. Although in sound condition, there is a small dent in the side of the top tube.
A c1951 Hetchins Nulli Secundus. With 22-inch frame numbered H13911, this early bicycle has been finished in light grey and retains Hetchins decals and badging. It comes with a combination Campagnolo five-speed gear with a Benelux chain wheel shifter operated from the seat tube. Also featured are 27-inch Alumlite wheels with large flange hubs, quick release spinners to the front, 18-inch drop handlebars fitted to a GB extension, double bottle holder, leather competition saddle, blue 'All Rounder' Bluemels mudguards, and Berthet Lyotard pedals.
An Arthur S. Gilliot 'Alpine Tourist' Bicycle. A mid 1950s (?) lug less framed machine of 24-inches with a bronze brazed seat tube, pannier carrier and lugs. Featuring Gilliot front forks and Agrati style rear fork ends, chain adjustment is via an eccentric bottom bracket. A 10-speed Cyclo Benelux gearing is fitted with two controls mounted on the cross tube, Endrick rims with wide GB hubs, semi-drop aluminium 19-inch handlebars, mounted on a GB extended stem, Brooks B17 saddle, Mafac centre-pull brakes and finished in a light brown. A frame number was not visible but may be stamped on the rear dropouts beneath the hub nuts.
A 1941 Caminade - Caminargent Aluminium Bicycle. Originally patented in 1936, the bottom bracket is dated June 1941 and numbered 1826, and the octagonal tubing is held together by decorative lugs that are clamped by bolts. Fitted with a Super Rapid three-speed gearing with a down tube mounted control, the chain-set is Stronglight, and modern yet old-style rat-trap pedals with toe clips are fitted. Aluminium drop handlebars are fitted to a Camichrom steering extension, side-pull Lam brakes and Picardie rims and narrow section hubs are fitted. A new Caminargent light brown leather saddle completes the ensemble
A GEORGIAN IRISH MILITIA PRESENTATION SABRE BY PROSSER, 80cm curved blade frost etched and decorated with scrolling foliage, stands of arms, crowned GR cypher, crowned strung bugle horn and PRESENTED BY THE 2ND DIVISION OF LIGHT INFANTRY OF MILITIA IN IRELAND TO MAJOR CHARLES LLOYD JULY 14 1806, gilt highlights, gilt hilt in the neo-classical manner and incorporating a crowned strung bugle horn, contained in its engraved copper gilt mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's panel.
A 1788 PATTERN CAVALRY TROOPER'S SABRE TO THE DEVON LIGHT DRAGOONS, 85.5cm curved blade by J. J. Runkel Solingen, engraved at the forte DEVON LIGHT DRAGOONS within a panel to either side, regulation steel hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard, ribbed leather covered grip, contained in its steel scabbard engraved B/9 and decorated with a stylised union flag. Some perforation to the scabbard.
A GEORGIAN LIGHT COMPANY OFFICER'S SWORD, 71cm blade decorated with scrolling foliage, stands of arms, crowned GR III cypher and crowned Royal arms, regulation steel stirrup hilt, wire bound leather covered grip, contained in its steel mounted leather scabbard, the upper mount with maker's panel for JOHNSTONS.
A 1796 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 84cm blade stamped EGG on the back edge, decorated with scrolling foliage, a cavalry officer on horseback, crowned GR cypher and crowned Royal arms, all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation steel stirrup hilt, wire bound leather grip, contained in its steel scabbard engraved with a maker's panel. The langet etched 13 LD.
A 1796 PATTERN LIGHT CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD, 84.5cm blade by DAWES of BIRMINGHAM, stamped with a crown over 2 at the forte, regulation steel stirrup hilt, leather wrapped wooden grip, losses, contained in its steel scabbard engraved AY over 39 just below the throat. AY probably represents the Ayrshire Yeomanry.
AN INDIAN ARMY LIGHT CAVALRY TROOPER'S SABRE, 79.5cm sharply curved blade by WILKINSON, stamped with various Ordnance marks and dated 1915, regulation three-bar steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its leather wrapped wooden scabbard with large steel chape, various Ordnance stamps and dated 1917.
A VICTORIAN PATENT SOLID HILT LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE FOURTH HUSSARS BY WILKINSON, 89cm fullered blade etched with scrolling foliage, regimental motifs, crowned VR cypher, crowned Royal Arms and the owner's initials A. G. C. B. and stamped with the serial no. 33047, regulation steel three-bar patent solid hilt, wire bound grip, contained in its field service scabbard. Complete with a copy of the Wilkinson Sword register entry, confirming the sword was made for A. G. C. Bruce of the 4th Hussars 26th February 1895. Bruce left the 4th Hussars after a very short period and later was the subject of a libel writ issued by Winston Churchill.
