A Copeland cobalt ground dessert plate, c1884, painted by Charles Weaver with game birds and trophies in richly gilt border and lobed rim, 23.5cm diam, printed mark, a pair of Copeland fluted cobalt ground and raised gilt dessert plates, a Copeland sepia printed earthenware meat dish, Copeland crest and an octagonal Copeland earthenware dessert plate, painted by William Yale with a view of Loch Awe, dish 41cm l (5) Weaver plate - professional restoration. Pair of plates slight wear and scratches mainly on rims. Yale plate - crazing of glaze on back including a straight line glaze crack that is not a crack as such as is not visible from the front. Dish with a few light scratches to glaze when held at an oblique angle to the light

A highly organic form suggestive of visceral and vulnerable interiors, with a delicate, almost lace like pattern on the outer ‘skin’, the piece appears held together by the strings, creating both a tension across the piece and a protective barrier. A small and light piece, it is easily explored in the hand, with amusement to be had from plucking the strings. Decorated with a variety of glazes and fired to stoneware in an electric kiln. From a series completed en plein air in the south of France during the French Lockdown. This part of France has been a continual source of inspiration for me. I love the colours, nature, light, architecture and art history of the area. The view from Mary Lou's garden looking over Beaulieu Sur Mer was a complex one of buildings, the marina, Kerry Los and Eze in the distance. I wanted to merge these elements together.
