Late Helladic IIIB, Late 14th-13th century BC A large decorated tan color pottery vessel having a round tapered body, twin opposing strap type handles connected to a central column support having a large disc knob, and front tapered cylindrical spout. Painted brown concentric banded ring decoration on the body, with abstract linear elements around the shoulder. Scattered overall light surface deposits. Repaired from several large original pieces with restoration over the break lines and some scattered areas of resurfacing. Very scarce in this large size. This piece has been precisely dated having undergone Thermo Luminescence analysis by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements. Late Period, Ca. 664-332 BC A light blue faience ushabti figure wearing a tripartite wig, a false beard, and holding a sheaf of wheat and a hoe. Shabtis, also known as ushabtis, are Egyptian tomb offerings intended to serve and assist the dead in the afterlife. Ushabtis are usually inscribed with title, names, and sometimes parentage of the individual that dedicated them. Such figurines could also be inscribed with passages from the book of the dead so as to secure safe passage for the deceased on their journey to the underworld.Size: L:86mm / W:25mm ; 28gProvenance: Property of a private collector; formerly in an English private collection.

Nishapur was an ancient and medieval city in Iran, famous for its rich ceramic, glass and metalwork traditions, until it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1221. The body enameled with raised flowering vines, interspersed with four armorial devices, with an upper and lower border of Greek key, the interior with a translucent light blue enamel coating, the angled silver handle with enameled highlights.
