BETTY JOEL (1894-1985) FOR TOKEN FURNITURE ANDOMAN PADOUK WOOD DRESSING TABLE, CIRCA 1926 the top with inset glass preserve below a tall mirror with bevelled plate and light, the base with two short over one long drawer raised on tapered legs (Dimensions: 121cm wide, 186cm high, 48cm deep)(121cm wide, 186cm high, 48cm deep)Footnote: Provenance: Purchased directly from Betty Joel in 1926 By family descent Note : The original receipt for this piece, dated October 14th 1926, states that 10% was added to the price for making up the pieces in 'Andoman Padouk'. Betty Joel set up her furniture making business in 1918 with her husband David Joel and initially has their workshops in factory at Hayling Island where these pieces would have been made. The firm rented a showroom at 177 Sloane Street in London. Such was the popularity of Joel’s designs that by 1929 the factory moved to bigger premises at Portsmouth. Many of England’s social and corporate elite commissioned her to design interiors and furniture for their homes and offices.

Four hand-blown glass goblets, possibly Venetian Murano, four unique colours of latticino design, three with gold flakes are suspended, each glass having three glass buttons attached to the stem, approx 12 cms together with a green Nailsea glass pipe approx 28.5 cms in length, three hand blown wine goblets, etched champagne glass, three (tea-light) tumblers and a glass sweet-meat basket. Condition for this Lot - Sale 010420pink glass has been broken and repaired to the base.
1906/07 Woolwich Arsenal v Bolton Wanderers Football Programme: Very good condition rare programme dated 3 11 1906 from Division One. Light folding and a couple of small splits including one at the bottom of the spine. Easy cheap repair if you feel it necessary. No team changes and completely original with nothing missing.
FA Carling Premiership Football Light: Large light in working order with plug attached. If your team won the Premiership between 1993 and 2001 it would be a good talking point for a bar or man cave. Manchester United Blackburn and Arsenal were the winners in this period. We dont believe this was for sale to the public.
