The inside of outer case with unusual silk map of Ireland, the inside of inner case with silk 'The Young Gentleman' poem, 5.4cm diameterCONDITION REPORT: Ticks when wound. Movement is clean. Light scratches and dirt to dial - gilding to inner case worn. Outer case has small areas of losses and small cracks.
DANIEL GOM OF LYON: A mid 17th Century exceptionally large pair cased striking alarm coach watch, the outer case studded leather, housing a gilt white metal fretwork inner case decorated with birds in scrolled foliage, the unsigned silver dial with Roman numerals for the hour and Arabic numerals for the minutes, brass Arabic alarm dial to centre with blued steel hands. The movement with chain fusee drive, verge escapement and countwheel counting strike train signed Daniel Gom Lyon with pierced balance cock, tapered baluster pillars and pierced and floral engraved strike barrel, some light denting to main case, 7.2cm diameter with outer case CONDITON REPORT:Leather on outer case in good condition. Inner case gilding worn, some light dents on piercing work. Dial is good. Slight play / wobble on main hinge. Movement has spots of green staining in places on brass parts but mostly ok. Movement not running.
