Tune Guitar Technology Japan five string bass, with ebony fingerboard, the maple headstock and body are capped with Indian Rosewood on top of a black veneer spacer, gold plated hardware. 34" Scale length.The bass is generally in good order with no damages or repairs. The body has some light marks and scratches around the edges of the lower bouts, as well as some scratches and very shallow dents to the tip of the headstock. Non of these marks are deep or defacing. There is clothing marks to the back of the body. The gold hardware is tarnished and some places worn slightly. The neck is straight and the action low, perhaps too low for some tastes and could perhaps do with raising to loose some fret buzz from the lower strings. The electrics have not been checked as we do not have an amplifier.
T. Earle Hesketh violin, Grand Model Guarnerius del Gesu, single piece back with red brown varnish, No. GHY, dated 1938, with case and two unmarked bows and original sale receipt.The violin was played professionally by Robert Colderley who trained at the London College of Music. The instrument is accompanied by the original sale receipt when it was purchased by William Colderley, Robert's father in 1938. The online images illustrated Robert Colderley's LCM certificate however this is not included with the lot. The violin is in good general order but would benefit from a good clean up and restring. There is no soundpost split to back or belly and there are no obvious repairs. The violin has been laying dormant for a large number of years with relatives of Robert Colderley and it has not been played since he died. There are areas of surface dirt such as in the corners and around the neck join. There is also some light coloured marks which look to be on the surface of the varnish in the fluting at the top of the scroll see images 11 and 12 online. There is some minor dents, marks and wear to the edges of the instrument, mainly to the spruce of the belly as you would normally expect to see from a working violin. The belly has minor dents and scuffs in the lower bout on the treble side and upper bout bass side as well as a scuff under the tailpiece from the brass fine tuners. There are scuffs to the varnish on the back and minor bubbling to the varnish on the side of the peg box treble side. The varnish is worn on the treble upper bout rib from the player’s hand resting on the instrument when not playing it.The violin is in good general order but would benefit from a good clean up and restring.
