JONES S WALES BORD." together with a single Victory Medal to "81672 PTE. R.H. SARGEANT DURH. L.I."Private Aubrey Ernest Pearce, Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge´s Own).Private Thomas Jones, South Wales Borderers. Jones was born in 1896 and lived at 4 Chapel Buildings, Salop Road, Wrexham. Registered as post-war disabled with defective vision and bronchitis.Private Reginald Horace Sargeant, "A" Company, 1st/5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry. Born in Kedington, Suffolk and enlisted on the 2nd of March 1916, with his service starting from 16th of June 1917 when he reached the age of 18. He was sadly killed in action in France on the 11th of April 1918. His records show he only joined his unit in France twelve days before his death.
British Army. A pre-printed commission, 6th May 1865, with manuscript insertions, appointing Boyce Albert Combe to be a Lieutenant in the 21st Hussars, with papered royal and duty seals to the left margin, signed (Prince) 'George' to lower-right, with a counter-signature, possibly by the Field Marshal Lord William Paulet (folded, some staining and some light tears to edges of folds)Notes: Boyce Albert Combe was born on 28 Aug 1841, the son of Charles James Fox Combe and Eliza Roberts. He had, throughout his military career, a strong association with India. A former Cadet of the Honourable East India Company Army, he was gazetted as a Cornet on August 27 1860. He was an officer in the 21st Hussars in their early days (they were raised in 1862 from the 3rd Bengal European Cavalry). He took part in the 1866-67 Abyssinian campaign with the 3rd Scinde Horse, and was present as the Orderly Officer to Colonel Fraser at the action of Arogee, and capture of Magdala. He then returned to the 21st Hussars, where for some time, he held the appointment of adjutant. On October 30 1871, he married Helen Edith (d. 29 May 1892), daughter of Major-General Lousada Barrow CB. They had a daughter, Aline. He was promoted to Captain on 12 Feb 1873, and on 17 Oct exchanged into the 10th Hussars, by then in India. On 13 Mar 1877, he left Bombay on board the Troopship Jumna for England, reaching Portsmouth on April 14. On June 7 1877, he was presented to his Colonel, the Prince of Wales, at a Levee held at St. James's Palace. He was Military Secretary to the C-in-C India on 11 Sep 1885, and on 12 Feb 1886, was appointed Commanding Officer of the 19th Hussars, until 1888. He was made CB on 25 May 1889 and put in command of the Cavalry Brigade at Aldershot on 1 Jan 1895. He also held the appointment of Commander of the Curragh District in 1896 with the rank of Major-General and was a District Commander in India in 1900. On 9 July 1904, he was Colonel of the 14th Hussars, an appointment he held until his death on 3 June 1920.

Perren" (3)Private Leonard Taylor was also entitled to the Silver War Badge. His pension ledgers show he suffered from 'neurasthenia' and was registered disabled, attributed to his war service.

Private David Dryburgh, Royal Scots Fusiliers, Highland Light Infantry [42970], Cameronian (Scottish Rifles) [43697]. Private Frank Broadhead, Royal Sussex Regiment, Labour Corps [148107]. Also entitled to Victory Medal and 1915 Star. He later joined the RAF as a Flight Cadet but sadly died on 18th August 1918, during a training accident when he was flying a Sopwith Camel and failed to recover from a spin. Private Frank Brennan, 14th Canadian Infantry Battalion (b. 25 Jul 1891 Lonton, England). Discipline records show he received three days of punishment for an "untidy bed and shelf". Suffered from several bouts of pneumonia and pleurisy in 1916/17, followed by a gunshot wound to head and a severe gun shot wound to the right thigh in June 1917, for which he was invalided out.

Bell winds and rings, though mechanism wil, often start and not stop, indeed, if wound too much will begin immediately - may need recalibrated.Works pressing head or tail. No markings.

The printed afghan style coat has two approx 1" split seams under the left armpit and a split seam on the right hand side back panel near the bottom.
Late 18th century block printed cotton calico in imitation of embroidery, part full length dress (the back of the skirt is missing), the bodice has button back fastening, the buttons are missing, gathered at the waist, some light stains, the sleeves are elbow length, an 19th century polonaise, printed calico chintz showing flowers, trimmed with lace, three quarter length sleeves, hook and eye fastening, another tiny part bodice in the same material.Condition ReportI have added five close-up images of the fabric to the catalogue - please refer to the updated catalogue.
