The following 24 lots were salvaged by Captain Mike Hatcher in 1999, from the wreck of the trading junk Tek Sing (True Star) which sank off of the Indonesian coast on 6th February 1822. Despite it's modest size, being only 54 m long and 10 m wide, it is often referred to as the Titanic of the East as over 1600 perished when it was lost. Tek Sing Cargo - thirty small tea bowls, five large bowls and fifteen spoons: under ivory glazes, some light encrustation. (50)
Tek Sing Cargo - eighty various pieces of Chinese porcelain: comprising ten each of the following; circular plates painted in blue with aster sprays beneath a line and dot border, 8 cm diameter; smaller plates painted in blue with magnolia, peony and foliage amongst pierced rocks, 10 cm diameter, similar sized plates under olive glazes [some light encrustation], smaller plates painted with a simple floral spray, 8.5 cm diameter; circular bowls painted on the exterior with a band of circles and dots, 11 cm diameter: tea bowls painted with floral sprays, 7 cm diameter, similar undecorated tea bowls and ointment or cosmetic pots painted with lotus bands. An Indian Kashan pattern silk carpet with pole medallion in a light green field, 280 x 188 cm CONDITION REPORT: Fairly good condition overall. Slight stain and spot to trim on one side, approx 10cm long. Other very minor stains to edges in places along other trim. Pile in good condition and consistent throughout.

CONDITION REPORT: Plaque in good condition, the frame with a loose chip. Please note that this plaque has been examined under ultra violet light and there are areas of re-touching to middle mountain area, the mountain to the right and the greenish cloud areas below.
