A set of thirteen rare Swansea creamware botanical plates, early 19th century, with brown rims, comprising ten 7½in. circular plates, each with hand painted single floral subject; together with two 8¼in. trefoil lobed dishes; and a 11½in. navette form footed bowl, all but one of the plates with the botanical name painted in iron red script to the base. (13)* Condition: All pieces have some flaking to brown paint on rim, and a few tiny scratches to the glaze and painted decoration. No restoration or repairs. - Footed bowl: Goo cdn. Kiln dust to base. - Leaf dish (Simple Leav'd Jasmine: 1in. hairline to one lobe of dish. ½in. glaze scratch to interior of rim. A few light brown spots beneath glaze to base. - Leaf dish (Ever Green Birthwort): Small ¾in. hairline to rim. Glaze chip to rim near handle, and another smaller to tip of handle. - Plate (White Flowered Upright Stalked Narcisus): Small rim chip. Some glaze crazing to well and to underside of rim at one end. - Plate (Smaller Sulphur Coloured .... Flag): Rim chip to underside (which is visible from the top). Glaze crazed throughout and some discolouration to body. - Plate (Smooth Storax): Glaze crazed throughout and some discolouration to body. Tiny glaze chip to centre of well. - Plate (Not named): Good condition. - Plate (Cream Coloured Crocus): Very small rim chip to underside. Glaze crazed throughout and some discolouration to body. Glaze scratch to underside of rim and small crack to base (not visible from interior). - Plate (Party Coloured Crocus): Glaze crazed throughout and some discolouration to body. Small v-shaped crack to base (not visible from interior) - Plate (Bears Ear Sanicle): Glaze crazed to underside. Minor discolouration to body to top of plate. - Plate (Brown Stalked Magnolia): Approx. 10 small glaze frits to top surface of plate. - Plate (Alpine Eryngo): Y-shaped hairline to base. Minor crazing to underside of rim at one end. - Plate (Large Flowered Serrate Leaved Flypoxis): Large rim chip. Glazed crrazed and discoloured. Discoloured horizontal hairline to lower section of well - through stalk of the flower.

A finely painted Indian watercolour and gouache miniature painting, early 20th century, depicting two gentlemen, one kneeling with a falcon perched in his hand, the other standing and waving a white cloth, 10¾ x 7½in. (27.25 x 19cm.). * Condition: Good condition overall - colours bright, no splits of tears, not folded. Not examined out of frame. Light time staining to edges of card border. Very light scuffing to surface of outer card border at lower right corner. Dark blue pigment to the border and scroll at top has some tiny rubs and minor losses in places, plus one slightly larger scratch mark to the top border.

Japanese Short Sword Wakizashi, slender blade 36.5cms signed Omi no Kami Minamoto Hisamichi and incised with a chrysanthemum flower. In its black lacquered saya with bone devices, with iron kodzuka decorated with soft metal stork standing by stream, iron shuriken, iron tsuba, tape bound same tsuka, shakudo fuchi kashira with gilt prunus blossom, and mixed shakudo menuki. Good condition. Blade worn with some wear and light stains.

Scarce French Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword, probably Chasseurs c.1789-1794, broad slightly curved single edge blade cut with a narrow fuller and with false edge, etched Vaincre ou Mourir Pour La Nation, crowned oval containing 3 fleurs-de-lys, with small military trophies and foliage, brass stirrup hilt with Phrygian cap and staff in relief on langets, lion’s head pommel, stepped quillon finial, fine copper wire bound grip. Blade 74cms. Good untouched condition.

LEGG, Military Tailor, Brighton, etched with regimental title, cannon and foliage, regulation triple bar iron guard with wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its iron scabbard. Blade 27”, overall 32.5”. Good condition, blade retains much original polish, hilt with cleaned light to moderate pitting.

1897 Pattern Edward VII Infantry Officers Dress Sword, with large dish shape guard having King Edward VII cipher, steel pommel top and chequered back strap. Original grip retaining copper wire binding. Standard pattern blade etched with Royal cipher, Royal coat of arms and foliage. Staining and light wear to the blade, measures 81 ½cms in length. Housed in its brown leather covered field service scabbard.

1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Officers Sword, gilt brass strap and knuckle bow with central shield style langet, gilded pommel and fluted back strap. Leather covered grip with copper wire binding. Curved single edged blade with large partial fuller. Remains of the gilt tooled etched decoration to the blade, early Ordnance / Engineers three cannon badge and order of the Thistle is etched along with trophy of arms and the makers details of Thomas Gills. Originally the sword would have been blue and gilt but none of the blueing remains and only outlines of the gilt remains to the etching. Blade measures 82 ½cms in length. No scabbard.
