A late 18th century Volunteer 10 bore Short Land pattern Brown Bess flintlock musket by Ketland & Co, 57½” overall, barrel 42”, with false breech, bearing Tower private proofs and engraved with number “100”; slightly rounded line engraved lock with swan neck cock and signed in copper plate script; walnut fullstock, the butt stamped with large “Y&C/82”; regulation brass mounts include flat wavy sideplate and oval escutcheon, butt plate tang engraved “A/10”; with sling swivels and replacement iron ramrod. A Vic Royal Naval officer’s sword, very slightly curved fullered blade 31”, by Whiteman Portsea (? faint), etched with crowned fouled anchor on one side and crowned R Arms on the other, in scrolled foliate panels, regulation brass hilt, the solid half basket guard incorporating crowned fouled anchor, and with turn down inner portion which locks to the scabbard, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip with knot (worn) in its brass mounted leather scabbard (leather replaced) with 2 rings. A George VI officer’s 1897 pattern sword of The Royal Engineers, straight fullered blade 33", by “J R Gaunt & Son Limited Late Edward Thurkle London & Birmingham”, etched with crowned GVIR cypher and wreath on one side and winged lightning with “Royal” and “Engineers” on the other, in scrolled panels, regulation pierced plated hilt incorporating crowned GVIR cypher, plain pommel and chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard (some light pitting) with 2 rings. A Spanish DB side by side 12mm boxlock pinfire pistol, 7¾” overall, round twist barrels 3¾” which tip downwards for loading and with automatic ejector on top incorporating unusual safety features which spring up when the pistol is cocked, the top rib engraved with “Montevideo” maker’s name (obscured by the ejector), the frame, including underlever, engraved with scrolls and originally inlaid with silver lilned borders (most now missing), with hidden triggers, fluted ivory butt carved with panels of foliage, and with steel butt cap.
