WW1 4th Bn 1918 Military Cross Group of 4 Medals. Awarded to Lieutenant Guy Lambie Jack MC, during the closing stages of the Great War. Military Cross, privately engraved LIEUT GUY JACK 4TH R.S.F. LEDGEHEM BELGIUM OCT 1918, British War Medal, Victory Medal, 2 LIEUT G L JACK, Territorial Efficiency (GVR suspension INDIA) TPR G L JACK S. PROV M RIF A F I. Thre group remains mounted as worn ribbon to the MC fragile. Accompanied by an original 2nd Army certificate and an old typed citation. Citation MC : In the operations east of Ypres, on the 28th September, 1918, he displayed marked gallantry and ability to command. In the advance east of Ledeghem, on the 14th, after his company commander was wounded, he took command and pushed forward. He worked a platoon round the flank of an enemy light field gun, firing with open sights, and captured the gun. The subsequent leading of his company was in keeping with his previous good work. Lieutenant Guy Lambie Jack MC attended Glasgow University, he served with the OTC and commissioned into the 4th Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers in January 1918. He landed in France on the 17th April 1918 and was reported wounded on the 19th October 1918. A certified natural tanzanite and diamond cluster ring, circa 1970's, the mixed cut tanzanite within surround of twenty two brilliant cut diamonds, set in a white metal mount leading to plain polished shank, stamped 'plat' ring size O, 9gms, accompanied by a Gem and Pearl Laboratory certificate stating the tanzanite to be natural and weighing 7.61ct Condition report: Stamped plat, no hallmarks. All diamonds present, bright, lively and well matched in colour. Three diamonds show obvious fluorescence under UV light. Diamonds are eye clean. Tanzanite shows very minor inclusions under x10 loupe. Clean to the naked eye. Under bezel and shank show minor signs of wear and thinning, commensurate with age and wear. General minor surface scuffs, scratches and blemishes seen to the mental. commensurate with being worn.

Old filled hole of rectangular shape can be also seen to the base. Foot rim slightly misshapen. Interior stained. The exterior with surface blemishes and light denting throughout. General wear and patina. Small cluster of holes where the foot joins the bowl which do not pass light.

Well matched in colour, bright and lively. All diamond appear clean to the naked eye. Inclusions are present under x10 loupe. Central diamond shows inclusions under x10 loupe, one particularly to the table facet, doesn't appear to be surface reaching. Colour is bright, appears to draw minor colourInventory marks seen to the side of the mount. Central diamond may be a little loose in mount. Mount shows minor areas of thinning, commensurate with age and use. Cut down setting edge is low in some areas. Tarnishing seen to the metal. Brooch would benefit from a clean. Hinge and screw off mechanism in good working condition. Pendant bale possibly a later addition. Area opposite pendant bale to reverse show area which may have had another attachment.
