A late 19thC/early 20thC French gilt metal and alabaster garniture, the portico clock of eight-day striking movement, the enamel dial with Arabic numerals and painted with floral swags, signed S. Benté Jac, with urn surmount, raised on a half-round base, together with a pair of two light candelabra, the clock 14½" high, the candelabra 9" high.
19th Light Dragoons medal, 1801, an oval cast and chased regimental medal, bearing part hallmarks, no date letter. Obverse: elephant and castle device with 2 pennants above, enclosed in laurel wreath, integral loop suspender. Reverse: engraved "John Gadsden Livery Octr 9th 1800", with brooch pin VF. See Balmer "Regimental and Volunteer Medals" No R101 where it states "Also used by the Royal East India Company Volunteers". Plate 4

A continental light cavalry trooper's sword, similar to French M1822, curved, fullered blade 34", with faint back fuller for ¾ length, brass guard, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, cap pommel, leather grip (wire missing), in its steel scabbard wtih 2 hanging rings, no visible markings. Basically GC (hilt miss shapen, scabbard rusted)
A light infantry officer's sword c 1800, curved, flat blade 27½", steel stirrup hilt of 1796 light cavalry form, with knucklebow, langets, facetted pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather scabbard with line bordered, voided steel mounts. (remainder unclear) on backstrap, regulation brass grip, the guard, with reinforced edges, knucklebow and 2 sidebars, cap shaped pommel, wirebound leather grip (wire AF), various stamps to forte and hilt, in its steel scabbard with single hanging ring. An interesting presentation hilt and scabbard of a light company officer's sword, stirrup hilt with langets, forward sloping facetted pommel and backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, screwed to scabbard with 2 hanging rings, inscribed on one side "Edward-Prentis Henslowe Esqre, 15th KLD (Hussars) 1811, William - Henry Henslowe, MA, Totenhill Norfolk 1841" and on the other "This Scabbard and a Hilt, Without a Blade to Fill't, A Soldier Sire's Bequest, To his Third Son, a Priest".GC Plate 6. Note: At this period it was customery for the eldest son to inherit the family title or business, the second son to enter the army, and the third to be ordained - hence the bladeless weapon.
