A Very Fine and Unusual Brussels Lace Fan, the leaf mounted on pierced and gilded mother-of-pearl sticks, the pearl continuing to form the ribs, the monture from circa 1900 but the lace slightly earlier circa 1880's. The lace is central to a leaf which also consists of gauze painted with Violets and Forget Me Nots, giving a very light and airy appearance. The needlelace, of fine quality, is worked with a coat of arms, said to be those of the Princesse Annie de Lusignan. A handwritten note to this effect is present. The loop is of gold metal. Contained in a fitted fan box, the exterior of maroon leather. Guard length 14 inches or 35.5cm Purchased at Christie's SK on 23rd October 1979 for £160.00 This fan was exhibited at the Royal Fans Exhibition at Harewood House near Leeds in June to September 1986. Catalogue reference No 160, page 63, describes the lace leaf as ''worked with the arms of Lusignan surmounted by a crown and mantled''.Slight splitting to some gauze folds, a very few small brown marks on the lace.

A 19th Century Jenny Lind or Palmette Fan, the shaped silk leaf panels mounted on carved and pierced, silvered and gilded white mother of pearl. Each panel is delicately painted with roses, lilacs and perennial flowers, and their foliage. The verso is plain. Overall length approx. 11 inches or 28cm. Together with A 1860's Wooden Fan, the monture carved and pierced and painted gold, featuring floral arrangements, the double cream silk leaf embroidered with small gold sequins, guard length 11 inches or 28cm; and A Third Fan, Circa 1860's, the wooden monture painted gold, the sticks carved and pierced, the double paper leaf showing villagers in their Sunday best relaxing by a river bank, the verso with more elegant ladies being amused by a gentleman with a tiny squirrel on a leash. Guard length 10.75 inches or 27.5cm (3)The Jenny Lind is grubby and stained in places, some support to the tips has been added, seen from the verso. The upper guard is a replacement of a different shape, the first stick in from the right is not original. The gilding is somewhat tarnished. The lower guard has broken and been repaired twice in the upper section, one repair has not held. The gold has rubbed on the second monture, mainly near the rivet, the leaf has been re-secured to the upper guard with a few stiches, the leaf is discoloured to a light brown. The gold is rubbed on the third fan, the leaf folds have some splitting, at the top.
A Late 18th Century Grand Tour Fan Leaf, framed and glazed, with a depiction of the Bay of Naples by night with a fiery Vesuvius in the background, the port lighthouse in the foreground. The vignette to the right shows a slightly different view by day. To the left of the leaf a musical score with words, and a further script with a poem or a song, are placed in front of a pink trompe l'oeil ribbon which emerges to frame the daytime vignette and a further script to the right. The reserves are a pale light green. The song is by Carlo Innocenzo Frugoni, an Italian poet and librettist. The poem is by Pietro Metastasio. Possibly painted by Nicola Patierno. The bottom straight edge of the glazed case measures 24.5 inches or 62.5cmThe glazed fan case is missing some of the moulding and some of the outer edges are slightly damaged. The leaf does not look as if it has ever been mounted on a fan. In some respects the leaf looks “aged” but it has never been folded and the leaf is not of the shiny/stiff appearance sometimes found. The case is well sealed so the verso not inspected, and it has clearly been intact for some considerable time.

An Attractive and Highly Gilded Mid-19th Century Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the deep gorge in the Spanish style showing three ladies in voluminous skirts and a gentleman in breeches, detail emphasized by differing shades of gold, and backed by thin white mother-of-pearl. To the sides, and on the guards, some piercing producing flowers and scrolling, which is picked out in blue and pink and green, giving a light and airy touch amongst the strong gilding. The narrow lithographed leaf shows a musical gathering in the garden, the ladies wearing sack back robes and one holding an open fan, another reading. The verso is finished in stronger colours and shows three women and one man gathering flowers or herbs, all wearing berets with a touch of tartan braid, the man with a kilt and sporran made from an animal's mask. The fan opens to a full half circle. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cmA vibrant fan with strong colour to both monture and leaf, some wear to the folds. Monture in very good order.
A Circa 1900's Ivory Fan, the monture carved, pierced and painted in gold, with the addition of tiny fragments of abalone. The gorge sticks alternate, with a central pair. The single leaf, of flesh-coloured gauze, is embroidered with gold and slightly bronze sequins in rows and columns. A yellow stone finishes the rivet. Guard length 8.5 inches or 21.5cm. Together with An Early 20th Century Bone Fan, the monture carved and pierced in interlinking ovals painted in light gold and a pale taupe. The gauze leaf, mounted a l'Anglaise, has a flesh coloured backing which shows through in places where the deeper colour gauze is cut away, with gold and silver sequins and spangles following the shaped fabric. Further star shaped spangles are embroidered onto the main body of the leaf (2) Purchased at Christie's SK on 17th May 1979 for £12.00 Fan 1 - Very slight light staining. One stick unsecured but present. Fan 2 - The fabric is splitting on the folds in several places. The upper guard is broken just above the shoulder and one rib is missing thus the gorge stick hangs loose.
An Early 20th Century Bone Fan, the monture carved and pierced, painted and silvered. The light pink chiffon leaf is backed with a light gauze, the recto being embroidered in vertical panels with shiny lattice-effect pink spangles, small gold sequins being added as a border. Guard length 8.5 inches or 21.5cm. Together with A Bone Fan, mounted with a cream gauze leaf, embroidered with two bands of gold sequins and painted in a central band with pale pink roses and powder blue flowers amongst white lilac. The sequins are mainly in lattice-effect groupings with gold sequins as a border. Guard length 8 inches or 20.5cm. A Third Fan Bone Fan, is carved and pierced and painted in a dull gold, with roundels inset in regular designs. The leaf, of silk, is painted with delicate flowers, applied with strips of gold foil, and embroidered in vertical bands with tiny gold sequins. Guard length 7.5 inches or 1 cm. All contained within a glove box covered in Toile de Jouy showing harvest scenes and merriment (4)First fan, the backing need sticking down in places. Second fan, some splits to the folds where the flowers are painted. Third fan has a major split to the very central fold which is only just holding.
A Late 19th Century Early 20th Century Light and Airy Cream Gauze Fan, the cream leaf edged and further embellished with white machine lace, flowers painted at random and highlighted with sequins. The pink mother of pearl monture is unadorned. The verso is plain. Together with a leather-effect covered fan box, the lid interior bearing the retailer's label for S. Levy, Eventailliste, 41 Avenue de L'Opera, Paris, Together with A Pink Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the paper leaf backed in thin cream gauze, the finely painted recto depicting a couple in 18th century dress greeting each other whilst seemingly out for a stroll. The verso is plain. Guard length 9.5 inches or 24cm. Contained in a cream card fan box First fan in good order. Second fan, the upper guard has broken and a previous repair has not held. At this point and to the side the backing gauze is worn, and also further along the leaf. Otherwise the fan seems sound. This box is damaged at the end.
A Large Late 19th Century White Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the monture's only detail being a shape to the head. The substantial cream gauze leaf is painted with sprays of daisies and birds perched on the branch of a dog rose. Signed top left ''Eudes''. Guard length 15.75 inches or 35cm. Together with Two Further Early 20th Century Fans, one of bone with a cream gauze leaf and white machine lace overlay, guard length 9.75 inches or 25cm, the other of wood painted white, and silvered, the cream gauze leaf painted in pastels with flowers embroidered with silver sequins, and various designs formed from tapelace of the ''cucumber lace'' technique. Guard length 9.25 inches or 23.5 cm. Adorned with a cream silk tassel with plaited loop for closure (4)The MOP fan is sound, extremely light marks here and there. The second fan is sound and clean, the third fan has some splits forming in the gauze.
A Fine Quality Art Nouveau Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the green/pink monture carved and lightly pierced, silvered and gilded. The double leaf, in dark cream, shows an elegant lady in fine costume seated in a salon decorated with sumptuous furnishings, a bewigged suitor kissing her fingers, whilst a cherub hides behind a screen. The reserves feature extravagant swags of flowers and ribbons and the upper border cornucopia, being additionally embroidered with minute gold sequins to the top edge. Signed A Faugeron. Together with a cream card fan box, the inner lid with an-shaped label for ''Nathalie 187 Sloane Street London; and A Later Wooden Fan, the sticks painted light grey and decorated with silvering, the double leaf cream satin to the recto, applied with cream machine lace and marabou feathers, two winged cherubs and tiny pink flowers featuring to the centre. The verso is plain. Guard lengths 9.75 inches or 25cm, and 13.5 inches or 34cm (2)The first fan is clean, one gorge stick has been repaired near the rivet, as has the upper section of the upper guard. The marabou on the second fan is sparse in places. Slight brown staining in places.
A Japanese Fixed Fan of Bamboo, advertising The Fujiya Hotel, Miyanoshita, Hakone, Japan, carrying the railway timetables and destinations, and information for the tram cars. The hotel is described as providing First Class accommodation with electric light and natural hot springs. The verso is painted with an outdoor scene including a locust and foliage. Height 15.75 inches or 40cm. Together with A Japanese Paper Dance Fan, mounted on bamboo sticks, cord details entwined around the upper sections of the guards. The recto is painted in pastel colours, depicting figures crossing a river on a raft, a simple fire burning, and rural habitation in the foreground. The recto is painted with winter pine branches and cones. Guard length 13 inches or 33cm (2) Fixed fan: Purchased at Christie's SK on 13th May 1980 for £15.00. Folding fan: Purchased at Bonhams on 3rd of October 1979 for £25.00Fixed fan, good. Folding fan, the cord is not fully fixed in place, the leaf has some nicks to the top of the folds, and the edges of the folds are quite worn.
A Circa 1900 White Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the heavy monture clouté in silver in regular designs. The cream gauze, backed with thin cream gauze, is embroidered with swirls of silver sequins of differing sizes, the sequins decreasing in size as the swirl size decreases. The inner sequins are flower shaped. Rope effect silver metal loop. Contained in a card fan box with leather effect exterior, marked for Benjamin Lachelin Eventailliste 32 Avenue de L'Opera, Paris. Guard length 9.5 inches or 24cm Purchased at Christie's on October 23rd 1979 for £45.00. A very shiny fan as it catches the light, and no loss to the sequins noted. The monture is sound. The gauze is however split on many folds, the sheer amount of sequins holding the leaf together and the fabric is not shedding.
A Mid-18th Century French Ivory Fan, mounted with a double leaf painted in differing shades of pink en camaieu, bordered in pink, and depicting figures in a pastoral setting, the verso painted in a similar fashion with figures in a simple landscape. The monture, carved and pierced, is painted with flowers and birds in complementary colours, the upper guard continuing the painted flower motif and carved with a boy playing a flute. Regency Romance: A Fine Fan, circa 1830's, the monture of white mother-of-pearl, the gorge elegantly gilded with flowers, both guards of a gold metal repoussé with flowers, the upper guards with the addition of red stones. The double paper leaf is printed and hand coloured, the recto with Moorish buildings and a garden in which three ladies light flames in the hope of finding true love. One carries a fan. Side vignettes show a winged maiden and youth, scattering flower petals and holding floral garlands. The reserves are filled with colourful butterflies and further flowers. The verso depicts a winged maiden holding a flaming torch, an admirer proffering a red rose, with the words ''Una visita de amor en casa de su hermano''. Print registration FC N382 marked to one side. Together with a fan tube covered in shiny gold paper. Guard length 8.5 inches or 21.5cm FC could refer to F. Coustellier Abaniqueros in Paris. A Mid-18th Century Ivory Fan, the monture elaborately carved and gilded, the gorge particularly to note, with medallions containing gilded profiles and others with cherubs, and the Sun King, other sticks designed as columns, and the addition of silvered, almost minute sequin shapes which glint in the light. The double vellum (?) leaf is tinged with pale pink, the central cartouche showing travellers at an Inn, Food and drink being served, and two side vignettes continue the travelling theme with a depiction of an encampment and a port with boats and provisions. The reserves are filled with swags of roses and gold stripes. The verso shows a rural scene by a river with a couple taking their rest, a fisherman and a church. Contained in a later card fan box covered in cream silk. Guard length 10.75 inches or 27.5cmLoss to some of the backing MOP, two upper gorge sticks only have it present. Some rubbing to the folds.
An Early 19th Century Chinese Lacquer Brisé Fan, Qing Dynasty, in mainly black and gold, some light touches of red highlighting, especially to the guards. The recto features a central cartouche showing an impressive building with pagoda roof and a man seated outside waiting for his attendants who are attending to his needs. The side vignettes, of an unusual pear shape, feature rural locations, each with two figures. The tips of each fan stick, of which there are nineteen inner sticks and two guards, each feature individual figures going about their daily tasks, carrying wood, fishing, both rurally and close to different buildings. The verso is similar but features several figures, one carrying a flowing standard, another leading a horse with rider, a large building with pagoda roof behind. The side panel to the left features a servant serving refreshment to his master, and to the right a figure rides an ox. The tips feature different figures and activities to those on the recto. Guard length 7.5 inches or 19cm. Together with A Chinese Carved Ivory Brisé Fan, circa 1840, with sixteen inner sticks and two guards. The guards are very intricately carved with perhaps a bat, and a dragon looking up at two figures amongst foliage. The stick tips feature robed figures and different beasts, a dragon curling its body at each side across several sticks. The main body of the fan is carved with unusual buildings and in the centre a figure on horseback with his attendants. Two figures hold open fans. The verso is uncarved. Guard length 7.25 inches or 18.5cm (2)The lacquered fan is in good order with good colour and detail. The ivory brisé is defective, missing some sticks, others damaged, and the ribbon is detached. One stick has completely broken but the sections are present. One is damaged at a tip. Possibly a stick missing to each side where buildings are incomplete.
An Elegant Early 20th Century Fan, the monture of white mother-of-pearl carved and pierced, silvered and gilded, the cream leaf mounted à l'Anglaise, embroidered with gold and silver sequins and painted with dancers dressed in 18th century costume being observed by others. Contained with a simple card fan box. Together with A Circa 1890's Fan, of beige gauze bordered with slightly yellow machine lace, a young couple in 18th century dress painted centrally, the reserves with light gilding and tiny gold sequins, the monture of simple shaped wooden sticks painted pale lemon, lightly gilded. A Large Late 19th Century Wooden Fan, with a very light and airy appearance, the monture painted cream , the wood carved and pierced to leave spaces into which are placed tiny gold stars, the gorge sticks continuing up over the cream gauze leaf à la Sultane. The gauze is further embellished with gold metal thread, and alternate folds have detailed portraits of ladies with different 18th century hairstyles and hats. The verso is plain. Guard length 13.75 inches or 35cm Purchased at Christie's SK on 17th September 1985 for £200. Miss Kennedy wondered if the portraits show Marie-Antoinette and other ladies of her era.To the left where the gauze meets the guard, the gauze is very slightly coming away/split, only noticeable if you stretch the fan wide open, and it is not currently affecting strength. From the verso some small spots of rust are apparent which do not come through to the recto, unseen unless held to the light.

A 19th century French carved treen snuff box, decorated in high relief with a couple flanked by angels, the base carved with a couple in an interior, 9cm CONDITION REPORT: The carved detailing to the box appears to be in good condition, perhaps some light rubbing or odd nick. There is an old filler repair to the back of the lid by the hinge and there is a small section of metal lacking to the hinge. There is a small loss to one corner on the inside of the lid. A William IV rosewood tea caddy, of waisted sarcophagus form, with two canisters and associated mixing bowl, on gadrooned bun feet, 21cm H x 38cm W x 24cm D CONDITION REPORT: Of a good colour and appearance externally, general light age wear to most sides. The baize lining to the underside of the base is lacking. Internally clean, the mixing bowl is not original. Lid of one of the internal canisters is just slightly warped.
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave, 1968, 30" x 40" Quad Poster, Hammer Horror starring Christopher Lee and Rupert Davies CONDITION REPORT: Original fold lines but with many light creases throughout. There is a tear to to the bottom right below the head of Dracula and a smaller one to the pale blue area - both with tape verso. A few small nicks at edges / minor small tear perhaps some light browning. Overall, despite tears, fair.

Provenance: Yeaton Peverey Hall. Purchased at Halls auctioneers in the 1990's. CONDITION REPORT: This painting is considered to be the Studio of St Peter Lely and was purchased as so in the 1990's. The portrait is contemporary to the artist. A highly similar painting of the Countess of Orrery was sold at Sotheby's Old Masters Auction 7th December 2017, Lot 160. The painting has been re-lined. There may be a line of old paint restoration to the forehead of the sitter. This showed up when using a UV light. There are areas of craqueleur throughout. The edge of the old canvas can be seen at the top. The frame may not be original. There is an old auction house stencil number to the verso and pencil notes stating that it was 'No 21' and possibly for 'The Square Drawing Room'. Overall the picture is of a good appearance. Please see additional images. Because of the age and nature of this painting there may be other issues which may not be immediately apparent / detected. Viewing in person recommended by perspective buyers or agents.

It is quite pronounced to the top right corner where the colour appears slightly paler because of this. There is a degraded patch to the dark area of paint on the right hand side edge about two thirds up. There is a patch of vertical paint to the left shoulder of the sitter where the paint has lifted. Lightly grubby with some spot marks to the surface. The back of the frame is grubby - the frame may not be original to the canvas. Frame with general light age wear. The edging to the back of the mount planks appears lighter and later in appearance. Please see additional images. It may be re-lined.

An Elkington & Co silver plated oil lamp, designed on a circular base with three sea nymphs blowing cornucopia horns, the acanthus leaf column supporting a Gothic framed orb terminating with a converted oil to electricity fitting with flute and shade, stamped '231', 59cm high overall including flute (at fault) CONDITION REPORT: Lighting lots are sold as decorative items only, prospective buyers must consult with a qualified electrician before use or installation of these items.This is now an electric lamp with light bulb. One of the sea nymphs is loose and the end of its tail has been broken off. There is some surface scratching and minor wear throughout commensurate with age. The shade may be associated.
A vintage Melox Dog Foods vitreous enamel advertising sign, 66cm x 46cm CONDITION REPORT: The sight has rusting patches to all corners and holes, these are larger to the bottom two corners. General light age wear to the surface of the enamel, residue of white paint visible to the surface of the enamel to the edges - this does appear to be flaking off. Please see additional images.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany eight day longcase clock, with silvered Roman numeral chapter ring below a silent / chime selector, with movement striking on seven gongs (possibly ex-8), 214cm H CONDITION REPORT: The clock has all three brass weights and the pendulum will be delivered with the vendor on the auction day. The trunk door is open but the hood door is not. The vendor is hoping to find the key in readiness for the auction day. The material hangings behind the ventilation panels of the hood have perished. Case with light wear but overall ok. We can not guarantee that the clock is in full working order.
An 18th century and later oak low boy with three drawers, 71cm H x 74cm W x 56cm D Provenance: Yeaton Peverey Hall CONDITION REPORT: The low boy incorporates old and newer timbers. It appears to have been overhauled at some point in the 20th century. The bases and fronts of the two small drawers are not original. The top is made in two sections and has old marks and blemishes. One of the legs has been re-tipped. General light age wear patina throughout. Some of the beading to the drawers is lacking. Overall fair.
A Regency style gilt wood and composite convex wall mirror, early 20th century, with eagle surmount, 70cm H CONDITION REPORT: There is a crack to the neck of the eagle but it does not appear that the head has been fully detached. Another smaller crack to the lower part of the mount. General light age wear throughout, some tarnishing. Overall fair.
An impressive George II style carved gilt wood and gesso console table in the manner of William Kent, early 20th century, with green marble top, the elaborate pierced frieze with central shell and scrolls interlacing with floral swags on fish scale carved scroll legs, 85cm H x 154 W x 66cm D Provenance: Yeaton Peverey Hall CONDITION REPORT: There is a carved drop missing to the right hand side of the front of the table. All legs and block feet have general wear / losses to the gilt / gesso surface, heavier to the block feet and on the front right leg. A few small nicks to the gilt surface here and there and light surface crack. Marble in good order. Overall appearance ok. (PLEASE see additional images)
An Edwardian walnut swivel desk chair, with button back, arms and seat with later leatherette upholstery, on four legs, 83cm H CONDITION REPORT: The upholstery is old but not original. Leatherette with some general fading and wear but generally ok. The right arm is a little loose. The legs are a little loose - screws may need tightening etc. Wood frame with general light age wear. Overall appearance ok.
A 9ct gold Chinese green hardstone ring, size Q1/2, and a yellow metal ring set with a banded agate size J1/2, 7gms for both rings Condition Report: Green stone ring;- 9ct stamped to shank, mount and setting light general wear, light abraisions to the stone. Agate;- no hallmark, mount and setting light general wear, small hole to the solder seam of the setting. Agate all good.
A Shelley porcelain teaset decorated with pink, blue and yellow poppies, comprising two cake plates, twelve plates, saucers, cups and a sugar bowl (37) Condition Report: One cup chipped and cracked to foot. All items ok. Have been used some some light surface scratching and some of the cups have discolouration.
A Royal Albert Enchantment pattern teaset comprising thirteen cups, twelve saucers and plates, two cake plates, two milk jugs and sugar bowls together with a Royal Crown Derby teaset decorated with red and blue cornflowers comprising two cake plates, eleven cups, twelve saucers, plates and a sugar bowl Condition Report: Enchantment - three cups cracked, others discoloured. Plates and saucers with light surface scratches. Cake plates ok. Two jugs and two sugars both discoloured . Derby - Has been used. Surface scratches to all items. One saucer chipped. No jug.
A Royal Crown Derby Imari pattern teaset comprising six cups, saucers and plates, cake plate, oval acorn handled dish, jam dish, milk jug and sugar bowl (assorted dates) Condition Report: Sugar bowl cracked near base. One cup has a solid gold handle, the others have a gold stripe. Plates have light utensil marks. All other items in nice condition.
