A silver mounted regimental claret jug presented to the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry (KSLI), Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co, London 1887, the silver mounts bearing representations of KLI Forage Badges amongst stylised foliate decoration, the spout cast as a winged mask with entwined serpent surround, the domed cover with coronet finial (at fault), the second mount bearing battle titles against conforming decoration and engraved inscription; `Presented to the Officers Mess, the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry (85th Light Infantry) by Lieut. Colonel, Guy N Atkinson, July 1887`, all within beaded rims, the glass body of plain form, 28cm high, along with a silver plated lobed salver, engraved to the centre `KSLI`, 27cm diameter (2)
A late 19th century French faux bamboo walnut stained Armoire, circa 1880, with allover applied faux split bamboo moulded panelled decoration, the triangular pediment with crossed turned finials flanked by baluster spire finials, above a pair of panelled pin doors on plinth base with turned feet, the later birds-eye veneered interior with inset mirrors to the doors and later brass hanging rail, the depth of the piece extended to create a usable deeper hanging space, the base with old oval paper label to the underside marked Le Barde Meble Public, 18 Rue St Augustin, 38921, Bedel & Cie Provenance: From the London house of a US private collector, purchased from Andre De Cacquerary, ebury Street, London. 209cm high, 136cm wide, 51cm deep (original depth), 61cm deep (with extended sides) In good condition commensurate with age, the polished surfaces with very light scratches and very slight abrasions from use, the majority of these being to the front feet. The sides of the piece with modern inset stained soft wood inserts to extend the depth of the armoire (enabling coat hangers to hang straight with sufficient clearance) as the piece was originally fitted with shelves which are now lacking.
