Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) - A Coutts & Co. cheque number 59 dated 29th July 1825 for £100, signed 'Wellington', and an autograph signature cut from a letter and signed 'Yours sincerely Wellington'Some light scattered discolouration. Circular punch hole above word 'Company' measuring approximately 8mm. Further small roughly rectangular punch mark measuring 3mm x 2mm at the top of letter M in the work 'myself'. Double pin hole to upper left corner.  To verso evidence of stamp hinge to upper right corner. The cheque has been cancelled across Messrs Coutts & Company with an ink mark. The Wellington signature cut from a letter/note appears to be in good condition. It has browned slightly.

The clockwork mechanism for one works, the other does not appear to do so.  One has scattered scratching and light scattered wear. The other appears to be in good condition. The battery operated example appears to be in reasonably good condition with no obvious damage/loss/restoration, save that the wire to the motor has been cut. The other dog shows wear and its ear (right side is detached but present). The box has some tears and wear but otherwise is in reasonably condition.

A 19th Century French Walnut and Kingwood Writing Desk, with cross banding and leather inset to top, fitted one frieze drawer, on cabriole legs, 39ins wide x 25ins deep x 31.5ins highAround all four edges of the top there is some general rubbing and slight edge knocks and on the cross banding the veneer is starting to crack and split in various places each around an inch long. The leather appears to be in a good overall condition with no obvious tears rips stains or damage however there  is some light scattered scratching. Drawer runs free and easily with minimal resistance. The knob of the drawer at the back has a small area of damage. General heavier wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age. Overall the item is structurally sound with little to no movement in the joints.

A George III Figured Walnut Chest, with moulded edge and cross banding to top, fitted brushing slide, and four long graduated drawers under, on bracket feet, 34.5ins wide x 18ins deep x 33ins highTo the top there appears to be just some general light scattered scratching and to the three front edges there is some light general rubbing and edge knocks, to the right hand side of the top there is a small piece of stringing missing, around 1ins long running vertically, the whole chest has been heavily polished, the green baize to the fitted slide appears to be in good overall condition, drawers run free and easily with minimal resistance, to the right hand side there is shrinkage split running vertically at the base around 12ins long, and on the very front edge of the right hand side there is evidence of historic woodworm that has been treated and there is a slight discoloration, and on the left hand side there is a shrinkage split running vertically from one end to the other, the back boards appear to be in a good condition, general heavier to the bracket feet commensurate with age, overall this item appears to be in fairly good condition with some signs of obvious restoration, and is structurally sound with only little to some movements in the joints

A 19th Century Burr Walnut, Ebonised and Gilt Brass Mounted Bracket Clock by Thomas Mercer, London and St Albans, the 8ins arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, matted dial centre, silent/chime above 60, with regulation dial and eight bells/Westminster chimes dial to arch, with silvered foliate spandrels to the substantial eight day three train movement with anchor escapement, movement with engraved backplate, striking and chiming on eight bells and a gong, contained in walnut and ebonised case with cushion moulded top with flaming urn finials with caryatid and floral mounts to corners, lions mask and ring handles to side above radiant mask side frets and on leaf scroll feet, 37ins high including finial, and matching wall bracket 19.5ins wide x 14.25ins deep x 18ins high Note: Thomas Mercer, London and St. Albans (b.1822-d.1900) The clock is in excellent overall condition showing only light wear commensurate with age and usage.  Externally the case appears to be free from any obvious sign of previous damage or repair, all finials are present.  All gilded work appears to be intact and free from damage, likewise the fretted panels. The glass appears to be intact and free from any obvious chips or cracks, likewise the glass to the rear door. The rear door functions correctly and the hinges appear original.  The highly elaborate mechanism appears to be intact and in good condition. The clock winds, runs, sets and chimes but should be regarded as untested.  The contemporary wall bracket is in good condition and again appears free from any obvious sign of damage or previous repair.  Overall a good honest clock. The dial itself would benefit from a clean, the centre brass plates are of a mottled finish again with some dirty marks and are recessed lower than the chapter ring. The silvering to the chapter ring again has some marks (should clean off), overall honest patination of age not reflective of any damage

A Victorian Figured Walnut and Gilt Metal Mounted Pier Cabinet, with moulded edge to top, fitted two shelves enclosed by a single panelled door, inlaid with stringings and arabesques, with gilt metal side brackets, on plinth base with ball feet, 36ins wide x 14ins deep x 43ins high To the top there is some light scattered scratching, around all three front edges to the top there is some general rubbing and slight edge knocks.  Slight oxidisation to the metal components such as the beading, moulding and brackets. On the right hand side and left hand side there are two areas of gilt metal loss. The door on the left hand side where it meets the left hand upright has some heavier edge knocks and one area of staining and damage around 2ins diameter. The door is unevenly faded. General heavier wear to the base and feet commensurate with age. Overall the item is structurally sound however there is some movement in the joints.

19th Century Continental School - White marble bust of Apollo, on circular socle, 19.5ins highThe surface to the bust is rather granular, suggesting it has probably been outside for a while. There is some pitting to his natural left side upper breast.  There is some small similar pitting to the right side. The socle at back shows some slight chipping and dark patination, perhaps confirming the bust's presence outside. There is a dark line running from this down to the base which may or may not be a hairline crack. There is some light general darkening to the hair, natural left side and two small pitted areas above forehead, left side.

On the very top at the left hand side there is some slight veneer loss at around 0.25ins squared. Some darker staining build up around all four edges of the mirror. Some light scattered scratching to the base. Drawers run free and easily with minimal resistance. On the right hand side a section of veneer is loose but present.  The same for the left hand side. General heavier wear to the bun feet commensurate with age.  Chest - to the top there is some darker general scattered scratching and staining. On the top right hand corner around 6ins long running horizontally there is a shrinkage split. Some of the ebonised stringing is missing on the right hand side in two sections. On the left hand side and the front the veneer is starting to crack. There is a shrinkage split on the left hand side around 12ins long. The drawers run free and easily with minimal resistance. General heavier wear to the base and feet commensurate with age. On the right and left hand feet at the top where it meets the apron there are diagonal shrinkage splits running from one end to the other. Overall the item is structurally sound however there is some movement in the joints.

A Victorian Figured Walnut and Gilt Metal Mounted Credenza, fitted central cupboard enclosed by a pair of doors, flanked by display cabinets, each enclosed by shaped glazed door, on plinth base, 88ins wide x 18ins deep x 45ins highTo the top there is some general scattered scratching. The whole is heavily stained and has a thick residue to the touch. Around all three front edges of the top there is general rubbing and edge knocks.  To all of the metal components of the lots there is some light general oxidisation. The right hand incurved door is actually cracked/smashed in the top left hand corner. The right door is loose but present. On the same door the metal beading is loose but present. Around all the metal mounts there is heavy staining and over polish.  The key is present and locking mechanism works.  Around the base of all the door fronts there are scratches due to the movement of the doors.  General heavier wear commensurate with age to the base. Overall the item is structurally sound however there is some movement in the joints.

There is some very light/miniscule scratching/loss to enamel background. There is again some miniscule scattered wear to gilt detail.  The enamel still life is in good condition with no obvious damage.

An Edwardian Mahogany and Inlaid Writing Desk, with cross banded edge and leather inset to top, fitted two frieze drawers, on square tapered legs with castors, 36ins wide x 16ins deep x 28.5ins highTo the top the leather is heavily distressed, stained and scratched. There is an area missing in the top left hand corner. Around all four edges of the top there is some general rubbing and edge knocks and there are numerous areas of veneer shrinkage and some loss at the top right hand corner.  Drawers run free and easily with minimal resistance. Some light oxidisation to the metal components.  On the right hand back leg there is an area of moulding missing around 2ins long running horizontally. On the left front leg, on the left and back sides, there are two areas of moulding missing each around 2ins long. General heavier wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age. Castors run free and easily with minimal resistance. Overall the item is structurally sound however there is some movement in the joints. The whole is heavily faded.

A Set of Eight Early Victorian Mahogany Dining Chairs, including two armchairs, each with plain crest rails, reeded splats, the drop-in seats upholstered in wine coloured dralon, on square tapered front legs with H-pattern stretchersThe drop in seats on all of the chairs appear to be in relatively good overall condition with no obvious damage/loss/tears/rips or stains. All of the chairs are relatively tight in the joints, around the crest rails, uprights, aprons and splats there are some general light scattered scratches and darker polish staining build up. Overall these chairs are in a relatively good condition.

A Collection of Early Pokemon TCG Cards, comprising of eleven Team Rocket, twenty Japanese, thirty seven fossil, and forty four Jungle, including - Ditto, 132, rare holo, Gengar, 94, rare holo, Dark Blastoise, 3/82, rare holo, Pidgeot, 8/64, rare holo, Snorlax, 11/64, rare holo, Nido Queen, 7/64, rare holo, Wigglytuff, 19/130, second base set, rare holo, Lapras, 10/62, rare holo, and Dragonite, 19/62, rare non holo, and others, various, all contained in 1999 Wizard of the Coast pro binder The binder around the spine has a few areas of rubbing and colour loss, on the interior on the left hand side and the spine, the material is loose revealing the cardboard underneath.  The first card in this lot, the Ditto - presents well however is slightly misshapen. The holographic element is still vivid and shows no real signs of scratching or wear. The Gengar - card is slightly misshapen and these cards could do with a press to make them straight again. The holographic element appears to be in a good clean condition with no obvious scratching and the colours remain bright and vivid. The Dark Blastoise - this card presents well. There is a slight bend to the back of the card. The holographic element is clean and vivid, however there is some minor scattered scratching on the back on the left corner on the top edge and on the front on the right corner on the top edge there is a small impression.  Pidgeot - the card presents well. There is a minor bend to the back. Holographic element is clean and is vivid and shiny however there is some light minor scattered scratching, to the back there is some minor scattered scratching. Snorlax - this card presents well. There is a slight minor bend to the back. The holographic element appears clean bright and vivid however there is some light minor scattered scratching, and above the top left ear of the Snorlax there is a small impression. On the top right hand corner there is a slight waxy residue and on the bottom right hand corner there is a small impression. General light scattered scratching to the back. Nidoqueen - the card presents well, holographic element appears to be in a good clean overall condition and remains bright vivid and shiny, however on the left hand side there is  very minor light scratching. On the top edge on the left hand side there is a small impression. Very minor light scattered scratching to the back. Wigglytuff - the card is slightly bent, holographic element has some minor light scattered scratching but still retains its original shine and colours are vivid. Around all four edges of this card the holographic film is slightly visible and on the bottom left hand corner, at the bottom edge there is some slight fraying. In the centre of the bottom of the card running through the resistance and the base and the text there is a small crease from a previous bend. Some very minimal light scattered scratching to the back and black spotty build up. Lapras - the card is slightly bent, the holographic element still remains vivid and shiny. There is very minor light scattered scratching. To the bottom edge and right hand side of the card the holographic film is visible on on the very edge. Dragonite - the card is very slightly bent and has minimal light scattered scratching to the back. The other cards in this lot appear to be in a reasonably fair overall condition with no areas of extensive damage however these cannot be treated as near mint or mint and we do not have the facilities to grade these cards individually. Primeape and Rapidash which are further into the album are probably in the worst condition, they are definitely play-worn.  However the majority of other cards in this lot appear to be in a relatively good overall condition. Please refer to additional images attached to satisfy your own opinion before bidding.

A 20th Century Silver Rectangular Box, by Nicola Roake of New Zealand, the lid with moulded and textured pane,l and inset with oval lapis lazuli, unique registration No. 151, 2.875ins wide x 1.75ins deep x 1.5ins high, with a cloth lining and paperworkThere is some typical very light scattered scratching.  The inside of the lid has a presentation inscription - "S.F.L. from D.C & A.J.F. December 2000".  The silk lining to interior appears to be original and in good condition.  In general terms this box appears to be in good condition with no obvious damage/loss/restoration.

On the right hand side there is a heavier scratch, on the edge there is a small area of veneer repair. The fitted interior, the baize is fairly worn but there are no obvious tears or rips. The drawer runs free and easily with minimal resistance. General heavier wear to the feet and legs commensurate with age. Castors run free and easily with minimal resistance. Overall this lot is in a fairly good condition.

All cards have been stored correctly and have been pulled by the vendor.  They are mainly in a pack-fresh condition and they have been put in top-loaders and then stored in binders. There are no areas of obvious damage on any card. All appear in a good clean condition and we would recommend that prospective bidders refer to the additional images attached.  The binder itself has some areas of wear on the spine and the front cover, however is in good usable condition and still performs its job correctly. Slight exceptions - Lieutenant Surge - the card presents well, there is a slight bend to the back. The holographic element is bright vivid and shiny, however there is some very minor surface scattered scratching. On the bottom edge on the right hand side there is a small waxy residue. Misty - the card presents well, there is a small minor bend to the back the holographic element is still bright vivid and shiny, however there is some very minor light surface scattered scratching. In this lot there are some older supporter and trainer cards in the back pages of the folder which are in very good to near mint condition, some show signs of age, in particular Secret Mission which has a crease at the top and has some light surface scattered scratching and all four corners have some slight signs of fraying, also Lieutenant Serge's Treaty (Sneak Attack) Lass.

The watch winds, runs and sets but should be regarded as untested. The boxes appear to be correct as does the seal and the paperwork. Overall a very nice example. John Gapp (act.1827-1840) - Pair of full-length cut silhouettes highlighted in gold of a husband and wife, each holding a coloured flower, 10ins x 7ins, in maple frames and glazed Note: The silhouette of the gentleman has an ink handwritten label to verso giving name of artist and his business terms including prices of silhouettes undertakenBoth appear to be in their original frames and neither has been inspected out of their frames.  There is some light scattered staining and light discolouration to the background.  The gentleman appears to have a scratch to the lower right corner.  Both figures have some whitening to the painted/ink detail. The frames appear to be in good condition.

This item comes in two parts, top and bottom.

A Pair of 19th Century Satinwood Circular Revolving Three Tier Bookcases, each inlaid with bellflower and urn ornament, each tier velour lined, on central turned column with quadruple outsplayed legs with ormolu paw feet and castors, 17ins diameter x 60ins highFirst bookcase - around the edge of each tier there is general rubbing and some slight edge knocks. On the top tier there is some light scattered scratching and darker staining. The first tier on the central column there is a split running vertically around 6ins long. On the right hand side there is a small area of string missing around 2ins long in two places. The second tier at the base the veneer is starting to bubble and there is a small area of stringing missing around 5ins long running horizontally. To the right of this there is a small area of stringing missing around 3ins long. The cross banding at the top has a small area of veneer loss around 0.25ins squared. On the next section there is a small area of veneer loss in a triangular section around 0.25ins long. On the lower tier there are various areas of string loss each around 1ins-2ins long running horizontally and general signs of shrinkage with veneer bubbling. The velour lined shelves appear to be in a relatively good overall condition with no obvious staining, damage or rips. General heavier wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age. Light oxidisation to the ormolu feet and castors. The castors run free and easily with minimal resistance. Overall the item is structurally sound and appears to be in a relatively good condition.  Second bookcase - very top section has split in half, and there is some slight movement.  General scattered scratching to the whole and some areas of darker staining build-up. In the very centre of the top tier the veneer is just beginning to separate and there is a line running vertically from one end to the other. On the lower section the right hand side of the top tier, there is a small area of stringing loss around 2ins running horizontally.  The second tier has a diagonal shrinkage split running from one end to the other at the very top. General signs of shrinkage to the veneer around the top and bottom edge and some slight areas of loss. Shrinkage running vertically from one end to the other on the lower tier at the very top and all the edges of each tier has general rubbing and slight edge knocks. To the base there is some veneer shrinkage and splits present. General darker staining and polish build-up to the whole. Light scattered scratching to the whole and to the feet there is some general heavier wear commensurate with age and some light oxidisation to the metal ormolu components of the feet. The castors run free and easily with minimal resistance. Overall the item is structurally sound. 

Lot 30

A Flight Barr & Barr Worcester Two-Handled Vase and Cover, Circa 1820, painted with seashells and seaweed in the manner of John Barker, on a gilt seaweed ground, painted mark and Coventry Street address, 6.5ins highCover - the knop has been broken off and is missing.  Two very small areas of wear to gilt on edge of cover.  Urn - a few very small areas of loss to gilding on shoulder of vessel.  Small areas of loss to gilding on edge of rim. Miniscule loss of gilt to tail of dolphin.  Some very light typical wear to corners of base. The remaining gilding appears to be intact and in good condition, and the enamels again are in good condition with no obvious damage/loss/scratching/restoration.
