This version of the Bible is sometimes known as the 'Goose Bible,' from the bird in the device with the motto 'God is my helper', which appears on the title-page of the Metrical Psalms. The third edition of the collected works of Chaucer, this being one of four variants, each with a different publisher's name in the colophon (the others being Thomas Petit, Wyllyam Bonham and Robert Toye), who are likely to have shared equally in the edition. The two woodcuts of The Knyght and The Squire are here printed for the first time, and continue to be printed through black editions up to 1602.
