Lot 189

Edmond VAN COPPENOLLE (1843-1915). Still life with lilacs and roses. A dynamic, diagonal composition of branches of freshly cut lilacs and yellow roses, in a clay pot with green glaze. Set against the choppy and dramatic backdrop of an abstract interior. With grotesques of restless light and shadow, in which the inviting change of spring life is more clearly visible. Lively and tremulous movement of spring flowers. Canvas, oil. France. Second half of the 19th century. Canvas size: 67x82 cm. Width: 87cm, Height: 102cm, Depth: 9cm, Weight: 10kg, Condition: Good, Material: Canvas, oil

Lot 186

The romantic landscape of the school of Julius Yulievich Klever WINTER EVENING IN A VILLAGE, richly and sweepingly demonstrates the atmosphere of a pre-sunset, snowy evening, where a traveler hurries to the comfort and warmth of home. Sunset Light spills across the canvas. It captivates with the high golden distances and the lights of the blazing sunset. They seem to outline the silhouette of the hut and separate the purple lace of the snow. The center of the composition and saving comfort is the house, with its red dot of the window and the smoke of the burning stove. Canvas, cardboard, oil. 50 x 36.5 cm. Turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Illegible signature at bottom left.Condition: GoodStyle: RealismCountry: RussiaPeriod: At the turn of 19th -20th centuryWarranty: Seller WarrantyMaterial: Canvas, oilProduct sizes: Height - 63cm, Width - 49cm, Depth - 6cm

Lot 170

Icon of the Holy Great Martyr Anna Kashinsky, turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Depicts a full-length figure of a saint, blessing with a cross, against the background of a conditional landscape of Tver, the princely chambers and Kashin. The ascetic of the Russian land. The wife of the legendary Prince of Tver Mikhail (1318), who died in the Horde for his faith. Lost in the Horde of her sons. The last year of her life she was a monk in Kashin. The light of the Old Believers, whose canonical veneration, after two centuries of oblivion, was restored in 1908. Icon dimensions: 26.5x22 cm. Width: 22cm, Height: 26.5cm, Depth: 2.5cm, Weight: 1kg, Condition: Good, Material: Wood, gesso, gilding, tempera

Lot 178

Simeon Fedorov (1867-1910). Landscape Summer day. Subtly conveys the atmosphere of a hot summer day, where the warm Russian sun shines along the banks of the river with the aromas of herbs and the songs of larks. Time stood still thanks to the stone and sedge bush, the static scenes of the foreground. Behind them, the distance of a calm river unfolds with a light swell of blown wind. A shepherd and his flock are resting on the shore near a tree. But the semantic diagonal goes tangentially from the boulder on the left to the tree and to the church in the distance. This is a kind of marker of inviolability, space, difficult happiness of Holy Rus, where the sweet sadness of life comes with the mobility of the sky. Canvas dimensions: 62.5x97 cm. Width: 97cm, Height: 62.5cm, Depth: 4cm, Weight: 4kg, Condition: Good, Material: Canvas, oil

After Jef Scherens won the 1936 World Sprint, the vendor’s father had an exact copy of Scherens’ bicycle made for the princely sum of £17-16s and took delivery of it in 1937.  It had a fixed 26-inch wheel, short wheelbase, a Brooks saddle and drop bars.   In 1963 the bicycle was given to the vendor on his 16th birthday.  By the 1980’s the bicycle was looking tired, and the chrome was faded.  The vendor had the frame professionally enamelled, and the fixed wheel replaced with a simple gear system.  The bicycle has not been used for over 15 years.   Joseph "Jef" Scherens (17 February 1909 – 9 August 1986), better known as Poeske Scherens, was a Belgian professional track cyclist specializing in sprint where he won seven World Championships.   Between 1931 and 1947, he won the Belgian individual sprit championship 15 times.
