A late 18th century Volunteer 10 bore Short Land pattern Brown Bess flintlock musket by Ketland & Co, 57½” overall, barrel 42”, with false breech, bearing Tower private proofs and engraved with number “100”; slightly rounded line engraved locks with swan neck cock and signed in copper plate script; walnut fullstock, the butt stamped with large “Y&C/82”; regulation brass mounts include flat wavy sideplate and oval escutcheon, butt plate tang engraved “A/10”; with sling swivels and replacement iron ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition (light age wear and bruising overall); with its early style triangular bayonet with long socket and raised fence at the base of the blade. Good Condition. Plate 25
A 19th century Turkish officer’s mameluke style sword, fully curved, fullered blade 28½”, probably German, etched on both sides with trophies of arms and flags with foliage, in scrolled panels, the ornate sheet brass covered hilt, retaining a little original gilt, embossed with foliate scrolls, and set with red and turqouise “stones” on the outer side, in its dark green velvet covered scabbard, the locket (loose), middle band and chape en suite with hilt and set with stones on the outer. GC, the blade retaining approx 40% original polish (light surface rust patches, scabbard velvet some wear). Plate 7
A rare pre-1856 officer’s lance cap of the 16th (The Queen’s) Light Dragoons (Lancers), black leather skull, front peak and back peak both of which are bordered with gilt braid, broad gilt lace band with crimson central ribbon to waist, black cloth sides and top with gilt cord trim (missing on one corner), gilt rosette bearing VR cypher, gilt on silver plated rayed plate bearing 13 battle honours “Peninsula” to “Sobraon”, black cloth backed chinchain and lion’s head ear bosses, white feather plume (replaced), leather and silk lining. Good Condition for age (the lower part of the skull shows signs of exposure to damp and is somewhat shrunken. Plate 7

Plus an Alfa Romeo GP 158 RN25, Maserati 250F 1957, no number and 3 Ferrari’s – D246 RN2, 375F1 RN12 and 312F1 RN9, all in racing red livery. All boxed, some wear to outer cardboard sleeves. A high quality hilted early 19th century Indian sword tulwar, curved fullered blade 32½”, from a 1796 pattern light cavalry officers sword, etched with crowned GR cypher, mythical beasts, trophies and flourishes, steel hilt of traditional form with long langets, domed crossguard finials, knucklebow with ornamental finial, disc pommel and pierced top mount, finely bordered overall with gold damascene panels of stylized flowers and foliage, in its leather covered scabbard with blackened steel chape and 2 bands, with belt loop, all bordered with stylized gold damascene foliate patterns. A post 1902 Colonel’s shako of The Highland Light Infantry, blue cloth, red, white and blue diced headband, 2 lines of gilt lace around the top, plaited cords around the front, 2 lines at the back, patent leather peak, gilt and silver plated badge as for glengarry, corded boss with gilt thistle spray, green ball tuft plume, leather and silk lining, black patent leather (congealed) chinstrap. Richards, London” in ovals and having thumb safety catch; with plain walnut slab butt. Good Working Order and Condition (dark patina with some light pitting). Plate 31
An officer’s double barrelled 16 bore over and under percussion boxlock sidehammer pistol, c 1830, 12¾”overall, octagonal barrels 6½” with Birmingham proofs, engraved “Collins, Vigo St, London”, on top flat, and with swivel ramrod beneath, scroll engraved frame, hammers and trigger guard with dog tooth borders, and with safety bolts; slightly flared chequered walnut butt having vacant silver escutcheon, long scroll engraved hinged trap for caps, engraved German silver band around the base, and small steel cap with swivel lanyard ring. Good Working Order and Condition (light wear and spotting to barrels) Plate 32 Note: James Collins had a Gun and Pistol Repository at 12 Vigo Lane, Regent Street 1825-32.

A George VI officer’s 1897 pattern sword of The Royal Engineers, straight fullered blade 33”, by “J R Gaunt & Son Limited Late Edward Thurkle London & Birmingham”, etched with crowned GVIR cypher and wreath on one side and winged lightning with “Royal” and “Engineers” on the other, in scrolled panels, regulation pierced plated hilt incorporating crowned GVIR cypher, plain pommel and chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard (some light pitting) with 2 rings. A fine quality double barrelled 12 bore percussion sporting gun by R Ancell of Perth, 46” overall, well rebrowned twist barrels 29”, the top rib engraved in Gothic script “R. Ancell, George Street, Perth”; breech tang engraved with scrolls and vignette of a partridge in undergrowth; signed back action locks finely engraved with beaded borders and scenes of pheasants and lapwings in a heathland setting, unusual long nosed hammers of serpentine form; dark walnut halfstock having chequered wrist (worn) and steel mounts, trigger guard and finial engraved with capercaillie and other game birds, the butt plate tang with a heron in reeds; brass mounted ramrod having concealed worm.
