Property from a Deceased Estate1970 Lotus Elan S4 SE Drophead Coupé Registration no. DPB 229JChassis no. 7006150079COdometer Reading: TBAMoT Expiry: Exempt *In the hands of the late owner from 1979 to date*Offering room for improvement*Known ownership from 1975 Coming from a deceased estate, this Elan SE comes to auction in generally good order, having not been used since 2005. The bodywork has been repaired twice, once to the nearside front quarter and then to a wheelarch but this shows signs of deterioration and would require further work. The black interior is well preserved with the seats, centre console and dashboard. At the heart of any Elan is its engine and notes report that it was re-built at 40,000 miles with a +0.030 overbore while at 55,000 miles later the pistons and bearings were removed and inspected. The car has an auxiliary electric cooling fan fitted. An exchange gearbox was fitted at 50,000 miles along with a replacement clutch and rear wheel bearings at 68,000 miles. A hard top is available, plus the soft top and tonneau cover. There is a workshop manual and almost complete run of Lotus Club magazines and comprehensive notes from the present owner's files. Coming from long-term ownership this Elan offers great scope for improvement or could simply be re-commissioned for unashamed open-road enjoyment. Property from a deceased estate. 1958 Edsel RangerRegistration no. 520 XVDChassis no. C9UF712999Odometer Reading: TBAMoT Expiry: Exempt *Second year of production*Bodywork requires some attention*Seldom seen in the UKThe Edsel story has gone into legend as the multi-million dollar flop, that resulted from Ford's market-grabbing intentions. The Edsel marque was conceived to fit between Mercury and Lincoln models by using Ford and Mercury bodyshells with dedicated Edsel front and rear sections. The 1958 model line-up comprised, in ascending order, Ranger, Pace, Corsair and Citation models. After 1958 the model range was slimmed-down and the last-gasp 1960 models used full-sized Ford bodyshells with trim and badging differences. This 1959 Ranger is powered by a Y-block V8, here in smaller 292 cubic inch (4.8-litre) form, with two-speed Mile-O-Matic transmission and was built on 10 December 1958 at the Lousville plant, painted Gold Metallic and Snow White with two-tone Green vinyl and Signet cloth trim. The bodywork is in average condition and the paint is poor, and it should be noted the bumpers have been painted. The green and light gold interior is generally good and the dashboard is also good. The engine is said to be poor for starting and running and the underbonnet presentation is average: running gear is reported to be in poor order.Rare in its homeland this 1959 Ranger requires attention but would make a thoroughly worthwhile project. Completed in December 1958 in the current colour combination of Gold Metallic and Snow White with a two tone vinyl and cloth interior. Fitted with the 292 ci V8 engine. 1989 Volvo 480 Turbo CoupéRegistration no. EIG 1012Chassis no. XLBEX063EKC541173Odometer Reading: 56,250MoT Expiry: 29/06/2021 *Rare manual gearbox model – one of a believed 12 survivors*Just 56,250 miles from new*Said to be running and driving 'beautifully' The Volvo 480 was a rare beast when new and even moreso today, and especially so in Turbo form. Drawing its inspiration from the early 1970s P1800ES, the 480 was a smaller sporting coupé built up to a quality and not down to a price. This 1989 model has had just three previous owners, the first two being father and son, spending all its life (until recently) in Ireland. It was laid up from 2013 until the end of 2019, the vendor says. Described as solid and original the typically solid Volvo bodywork is said to be very good, the paint, trim and wheels/tyres as good. The interior has original seats and trim, the seats reported as being very good and the remainder as good. The turbo-charged engine is vendor-assessed as being very good for starting and running and the car is said to drive beautifully. Running gear is assessed to be very good: new rear brake calipers and flexi-pipes have been fitted. A rare opportunity to buy one of Volvo's much-forgotten but blisteringly quick Turbo compact coupés, and one with traceable history and a recent service. One of just 12 believed to be left on the roads this is a fantastic opportunity to buy a low mileage, manual turbo example. The brown interior is in good condition with some wear to the trim, centre console and the steering wheel, while the door cards and seat facings present well. Handbook and tools are included, along with t-top envelopes and armrest covers. If there's no substitute for cubic inches this 454 Corvette T-Top is the answer. It comes with good history including bills for more than£16,000 spent on restoration work. Also includes invoices and MoTs since 1975 confirming the original low mileage.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 93/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH.
