An original b&w photograph of the total solar eclipse, 29 June 1927, taken by John Jackson under direction of Sir Frank Watson Dyson, Astronomer Royal, at Giggleswick, North Yorkshire. Signed to the margins by three astronomers and Fellows of the Royal Astronomical Society: John Jackson, Charles Rundle Davidson, and Philibert Jacques Melotte. Inscribed, "Chromosphere and Corona photographed at Giggleswick 1927 June 29." This image, which captures the Sun's corona and prominences, was featured in The Times newspaper the following day, 30 June, where it was captioned 'the official photograph'. This was the first total eclipse to be visible from mainland Britain for 203 years, powerfully recorded in a diary entry by Virginia Woolf, 'We had fallen. It was extinct. There was no colour. The earth was dead.' [A Writer's Diary, Hogarth Press, 1953]. Gelatin silver print, 30.5 x 38cm. The image is remarkably well-preserved with some light creasing to corners, a marginal pin-hole at each corner, and a 1cm tear to left-hand margin, the verso has some light toning & handling marks with tape residue at top edge

Paul Weaver (British, 20th century) - Light & Shade. An early 21st century oil on board painting depicting Northumberland Place, Bath. Signed bottom left. Framed. Measures approx. 34cm x 23cm (13.5" x 9"). Paul Weaver is a full-time artist, tutor and demonstrator, based in Bristol, UK. His primary inspirations are light and atmospheric effects. Townscapes, markets and the bustle of the city are favourite subjects, as well as landscape, marine and coastal scenes. He currently specialises in watercolour, but also enjoys working in oil, acrylic and line and wash.
A retro vintage 20th Century Italian Hollywood Regency upright standard lamp light of brass construction. The lamp having a series of protruding brass arms with with frosted glass shades in the form of flower heads with floral detailing to each panel. Cylindrical brass column raised on a circular base. Measures approx. 145cm tall x 46cm diameter. Sold as untested.
