A SUBSTANTIAL OPAL NECKLACE mounted in 15ct gold throughout with delicate multi claw crown settings. The largest opal has the dimensions of 11.6mm x 13.8mm x 4.1mm, with a further fourteen opals of decreasing size to the smallest 5.6mm x 6.9mm x 3mm, the orange jelly opals have lovely colour play of blue/purple and green with a little red. Length of the gem set area 18cm, length of the chain & necklace in total 37.5cm, weight 14.2gms. In original box from Richard Ogden's, 41 Duke Street, St. James' London SW1. Condition Report:"Stamped 15ct to the clasp, this is the only hallmark and all they are legally obliged to do. the clasp is soldered to the chain, there is no doubt in my mind that the entire item is 15ct gold. There are no chipped opals, one has an internal crack but this is stable and not noticeable without a 20x loope, it certainly does not go right through. Please see photos. This is the only damage, this necklace has been really well looked after. There was maybe a pendant that originally hung from the largest stone as there is a redundant loop. There are a few very tiny surface reaching inclusions, none are really eye visible, all are very well matched, with a wonderful orangy pinkish glow when light shines through them.Condition report images are as follows;- Hallmark, orange glow, then the last five are of the only crack and inclusions*It is not possible to take a photo of it being worn, it doesn't fit any of us!"
