A great pair of images, one showing a centaur figure at a fast gallop, the other side showing a more aged figure an iron and envelope in hand. Heinrich Kley (1863-1945?) was a German illustrator, editorial illustrator and painter. Kley studied "practical arts" at the Karlsruhe Akademie and finished his studies in Munich. His early works were conventional portraits, landscapes, still-life, city scenes and historical paintings. Kley attained greater notoriety with his sometimes darkly humorous pen drawings, many appearing in periodical such as Jugend and Simplicissimus.
