Photograph of the racehorse King's Beeches with the jockey Manny Mercer up, by R Anscomb of Newmarket, b&w 7 by 9in., printed legend, framed & glazed, 27 by 32cm. Manny Mercer was brother to Joe Mercer and stable jockey to George Colling at Newmarket. He was spoken in the same light as Lester Piggott such was his talent, but tragically died aged 30 in 1959 at Ascot races. Trainer George Colling died in the same year.
