PETER WAALS (1870-1937) - A Cotswold school Arts and Crafts bureau in light pollard oak, ca. 1930. 93x105x41cm. Provenance - purchased in 2003 from the dispersal of the estate of the former owners of the Ryeford sawmills, Gloucestershire, suppliers of timber to the Waals and Gordon Russell workshops, this bureau having been made for the family. In good condition, some surface watermarks, scratches and signs of use. Please see additional images.

A SWISS CONTEMPORARY GILT AND CHROME PLATED BRASS GIMBALLED MARINE TIMEPIECEIMHOF, FOURTH QUARTER OF THE 20th CENTURYThe quartz movement stamped with serial number 1825489 to rear cover, the 2 inch circular horizontal dial signed Imhoff to the satin gilt centre within applied silvered ring with Arabic five-second annotations within outer seconds ring interrupted by a small Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes at twelve o'clock, with steel moon hands set within convex glazed canted bezel, the case formed as a dumb bell with gilt cylindrical upper section applied with plaque engraved No. 8480 to waist over pivoted gimbal collar and conforming brushed chrome finish cylindrical counterweight, supported via two gilt downcurved supports onto a brushed gilt disc base with three knurled feet; with original gilt tooled light grey/green Morocco cylindrical case with dial aperture to top and opening to reveal a silk lined interior.The timepiece 16cm (6.5ins) high, 11cm (4.25ins) diameter; the case 18cm (7ins) high, 14cm (5.5ins) diameter. Provenance:From the private collection of a titled family. The Swiss watchmaking firm of Imhoff was founded in Chaus-de- Fonds by Arthur Imhoff in 1924, they are best known for their wristwatches and luxury desk timepieces. The design of the current lot was inspired by Ferdinand Berthoud's marine chronometer, Paris 1796.

A REGENCY LIGHT GREEN PAINTED CHEST OF DRAWERS CIRCA 1820 87cm high, 105cm wide, 54cm deep Provenance: Private Collection, Lady Caroline Conran Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratched and abrasions consistent with age and use. The green painted surface with various marks and colour variation including old water damage. The handles appear to be original, as do the locks to the second and third drawers, the top drawer lock is missing. There are no keys present at the time of report. Overall solid and stable, backboards appear to be original, the moulded edge around the top particularly has various chips and losses. Condition Report: Craquelure in patches scattered across the canvas. The central vertical stretcher mark visible recto. Discolouration, most notable to the sky, most likely caused by yellowing varnish. Some light scratches to the lower left quadrant. Some scattered white paint splashes to the lower right quadrant and a small protrusion with associated loss and rubbing to the centre of the right edge. A Coalport three handled Goblet with rich blue ground and reserves of landscapes framed within gilt scrollwork 9in H, and a Royal Crown Derby lidded Urn with reserve of exotic bird with green and gilt frame on rich blue ground 5 1/2in H The Coalport vase appears to be in good condition and has been looked at under an ultra violet light, however it doesn't have a very good "ring" when tapped. The derby vase is in good condition.
