A GREAT WAR PAIR OF MEDALS TO PRIVATE J. LOADER, LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT comprising the British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (both 32763 PTE. J. LOADER. LINC. R.), officially impressed, unmounted; together with a silver War Badge, numbered 387821; a British Legion enamel lapel badge; pocket New Testament; Twenty-First Division distinguished field conduct recognition card; wound Treatment Card; Certificate of Discharge; Character Certificate; War Gratuity Claim; further ephemera; a leather cartridge belt; and a copper and brass bugle. Note: James Loader was born at Moorlynch, Somerset, on 26th May 1896. He was employed as a farm labourer before enlisting at Taunton on 26th June 1915, and initially served in the Somerset Light Infantry (regimental no.19245). Having been transferred to the Lincolnshire Regiment, he was injured in the field, sustaining a gun shot wound to his back, which lead to his repatriation and a period of treatment at a military auxiliary hospital in Bootle. He was honourably discharged from service on 15th May 1918.

TUDOR HOUSE BISCUIT TIN, HUNTLEY & PALMERS, CIRCA 1934 modelled in the form of a house or inn, with open chimney.Provenance: The Lewis Collection 16cm wide Overall, the tin is in good condition. The exterior shows some signs of light wear, but no large dents or losses in the design. The tin would benifit from a cleaning. The exterior is slightly yellowed, but in a uniform manner. Lid fits snugly with no bends.

Light surface dirt is visible throughout. There are two areas of dark green visible near the centre of the left edge, and a further small stain to the centre of the right edge. Rubbing is visible to edges and corners, resulting in minor losses particularly to lower corners. A small area of craquelure is visible to the white, lower right. There is no evidence of restoration visible under UV light.

Follower of Bartholomeus Assteyn (Dutch, 1607-1667/77), Still life of flowers in a basket, unsigned, oil on panel, 30.5 x 47 cm, framed 49 x 65 cmPanel is slighly bowed. There is a repaired horizontal crack to the panel running left to right along the lower third of the panel. Scattered craquelure throughout. There is frame abrasion and associated minor losses to the edges. A further area of surface abrasion is visible, lower right, and some small flakes of paint are lifting in areas. There are some scattered dents, most noticeable a circular 1cm dent upper right. There appears to be a small clump of dirt to the central lily. Further surface dirt is visible throughout. UV light reveals retouching along the aforementioned repair to the panel, and scattered touches throughout, mainly to the background.
